BHAU KALCHURI PASSED AWAY 23RD OCTOBER 2013, INDIA

Dear Baba family,

We are happy to report that Bhauji was discharged by his
doctors from Noble Hospital yesterday, 13th Sept. 2013, in
the afternoon in stable condition and without fever.

He is once again staying at the home of his daughter, Sheela
Fenster, at Meherabad.

Although Bhauji has a feeding tube, he no longer requires
any IV fluids or medications. His son, Mehernath, recalls
that the day prior to Bhauji's discharge Bhauji was
talkative, expressing concern for his caregivers.

Through all of Bhauji's ups and downs, he continues to
remain poised in the care of his Divine Doctor.

Subject:  Correction to previous Bhau Update /
Additional Announcement
Date: Sunday, 11th August 2013

Please note:  The fourth paragraph of the previous announcement should have read:

At home, Bhauji had remained mostly in bed for more than a month, and was recovering slowly from a urinary tract infection and kidney complications.  However, in the last few days he developed a candida yeast infection in his mouth and throat, which made it painful and impossible for him to eat or drink.  He required intravenous fluids urgently.  After the first IV administered in his bedroom at home failed and needed replacement, Bhau’s family members made the decision to take him to the hospital.  They asked Bhauji’s permission to take him there, and he readily gave it.

Our deepest apologies for the mistake.

Also, there was an additional announcement from the Trust later today:

BHAUJI GOES TO HOSPITAL

On 10th August 2013 around noon, Avatar Meher Baba's intimate mandali member and our Chairman, Bhau, was admitted in Noble Hospital in Ahmednagar. Various complications were making caring for him at home increasingly difficult. Bhauji agreed to this transfer.

Bhauji's family members and caregivers continue to take turns being with him round the clock while he is in the hospital.

Here as elsewhere in the Baba world, we know that eloved Baba's Nazar is always on His Bhau.

Subject: Bhau-less Chat for the Dear Ones, Sunday11th August 2013
Date: Friday, 9th August 2013

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba!

Bhau's health is continues to improve, slowly but steadily.

Bhau's Teams (Medical and Personal) will continue to update you from time to time with the latest news from the Trust Compound, and Chat transcripts will be read out to him when convenient.

Unfortunately, Bhau will not be present at this Sunday’s Chat.  But this week, as happens every week while he recuperates, dear ones from all over the world will gather in the Chat Room to send get well messages and love greetings to Bhau and chat amongst themselves online.

In addition, for dear ones who can't join in during the regularly scheduled Chat times, the Chat Room will also be open (as it is always open 24/7/365) to leave get well messages and love greetings for Bhau.

All messages left in the Chat Room, whether during the regular Sunday Chat times or outside of it are collected and read out to Bhau by his Team when he feels up to it.

Leaving messages in the Chat Room or conveying your sweet thoughts and prayers by the Inner-Net (the silent communication of the heart) are the methods preferred by Bhau and his Team to relay greetings, rather than by individual emails, cards or snailmail.

31 July 2013 MEDICAL UPDATE ON BHAUJI from Dr. Gavin Elliott.

Bhau’s recovery has been slow and complicated by low-grade infections.  Nonetheless, he continues to have periods when he musters enough strength to greet a few Baba lovers and spend time with his family.

GENERAL UPDATE ON BHAUJI

The heavens have opened today and it is raining and raining in Ahmednagar!  We apologise for the delay in any recent update.  We are happy to let you know that most of the messages sent through the internet chat of Sunday, 21 July and collected by Shiva were read out to Bhauji during some of his awake and alert moments during the last couple of days.  He responded with clear interest and sweet smiles for this refreshing reminder of happier times spent with his worldwide Baba family.  Sadly, only a very few emails or bits of news have been relayed to him otherwise, as his health has not permitted.  The most we can usually say is, “Everyone loves you very, very much, and sends you so much love in Beloved Baba!”

In the last few days, however, Bhau has been smiling more and his face looks softer and sweeter.  He is sometimes talking a little, and even laughed once or twice.  Today, he gestured to Khanbahadur/Shaheen and Malinda, “Get me out of this bed!”

It has been one month since Bhauji could not participate in his chat on 30 June.  He has remained in bed since the 1 July, except for short sittings in the wheelchair three to four days a week for routine medical treatment.  His strong team of four men caregivers, assisted by others from the team, lift him ever-so-gently inside a bucket of bedding and he lands safely each time, by His Grace.  (We have benefited from Dr. Gavin’s teenage experience as a hospital orderly!)  Bhauji sits up in his medical bed for meals, and sometimes on the edge of the bed for brief periods, with support from three sides.

The days go by one after another in a round of Bhauji’s sleeping and waking, shiftings in the bed every two hours by his large team to prevent pressure sores, sponge-bathing, medical treatments, medications and massage, range-of motion exercises, meals and soups lovingly fed by his family members Rama (Maha) and Sheela, visits with Mehernath-Raj and three Babus:  Amman #1, Zubin #3, and Jatin #4, occasional short visits from pilgrims, staff or Trustees, and sometimes brief gatherings of family and team for prayers and arti in the room.  Everyone notes with wonder that Bhauji is an almost-infinitely patient patient.

Some of the family members who had gathered have had to return to their jobs in the USA - Babu #2 Adeem and his wife Dr. Aakanksha, and Amman’s wife Stephanie.  Amman will remain here a while as he is partially able to continue his work commitments through phone and internet.  Jatin has been able to defer his entry into a Master’s program in Australia until December, and “Dr.” Zubin (Juris Doctor – Australian PhD in law) remains here while applying for jobs in both Australia and India.  All the Babus (grandsons) give good company to their dear “Ba” and sweet support to all the family through their youth, helpfulness, and good humour (encouraging him to get better and fit for Boxing Match!)  There have been some happy conversations in front of Bhauji about the recent wonderful visit and hospitality received in the USA.

Dr. Gavin Elliott and nurse Malinda McCullough, with excellent support from local doctors and “Chairman Doctor Shelley” at Meherazad have, under Baba’s Nazar, tirelessly and stalwartly been monitoring Bhauji’s health status, giving loving treatment, taking tests and lab reports, doing research and consultation as required - while remaining on call for 24 hours.  (Gavin is the Meherabad doctor while Dr. Anne is away and also attends the MPR Clinic each morning.)   Shelley has visited several times to give training and support from her background as a physical therapist and her long experience under Dr. Goher as a carer for elderly Mandali who were confine to bed for long periods.  Bhau’s daughter Sheela, a trained Ayurvedic doctor, has also been overseeing his medical care.

Dr. Anne returns from France in a few days.  (Bhauji calls her “Dr. Bhon” – a French sounding nickname for the acutonics treatments she has given him twice-weekly for years, which he likes very much – acupuncture points are treated through sound waves with large ‘tuning forks’.)  Dr. Gavin departs on Sunday, 4 August to resume professional commitments in the West.  Hats off to Gavin and Malinda for their timely and marvelous help in Baba’s love!   “Sister” Malinda will soldier on here.  (“Sister” is the form of address for nurses in India, but Bhauji’s nickname for her is “Dr. Mummy Malinda” or “Shivaji Maharaj,” given when she used to appear in turban head-wrap for early morning medical routines!)

Although the official posting is “no visitors,” almost every day a few visitors have been allowed to slip in for a minute or two when Bhauji is awake, for a simple “Jai Baba!” and loving smile.  Bhauji’s frequent response, on better days, is a sweetly smiling “Good!”  or “Jai Baba!”  On other days, he has the energy only for a nod of acknowledgement.  Yesterday, to Shiva and Fatima of Shiraz, we gratefully heard him spontaneously say, “Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh!” after such a long time.  Also yesterday came Patricia from Mexico City (where she first met Bhauji).  She had not been here for pilgrimage since 2000, when she joined Bhauji on one of his Indian tours.  She was thrilled that Baba’s timing allowed her to greet Bhauji at the moment she landed in Ahmednagar, and then to jump on the bus to Meherazad.

Ted Judson (whom Bhauji calls “Architect”) keeps his many-years-running Tuesday morning appointment with Bhauji - formerly for Trust work, and now usually for an uplifting song session with his lilting soulful voice and guitar, and Bhau’s team as chorus and harmony.  Mother B (Barbara Brustman, recently arrived from Walnut Creek) commented after we softly sang through a series of Bhauji’s songs yesterday– “Now When I Even Hear Love’s Name,” “From the Wine of Meher,” and “O Moon!”, “That’s the happiest I’ve seen him since I’ve been here.”  After he left, Bhauji gestured for us to call him back for one more - encore, encore! - and our hearts and voices joined in, “Don’t Go,” and “Those Were the Days.”

Regulars King and Queen of Chicago (Jordan and Roberta) and newly-returned Queen of New York (Anna), Queen of Iran (Zahra), Goddess of Knowledge (Debjani), Pradeep, Ashok, small family groups from around India and others appear loyally and take a chance, sometimes waiting long hours for a few seconds to say Jai Baba, or to be invited to join the family arti – other times leaving disappointedly yet cheerfully with no opportunity.  Mother Sister Mahoo made a flying visit to India on her return from her dear mother’s funeral in Iran (our loving sympathy in Baba to her and family) and visited Bhauji several times.  Today, Trustees Jal Dastoor and Shridhar Kelkar paid a jovial visit, and Heather Nadel looks in often, quietly and smilingly.

Last week Bhauji appeared to very much enjoy the visit of Flint Mednick (son of our Judy Mango/Mangold of Myrtle Beach) with his five and half year-old son Indy (Indiana) – a Meherabad native.    Flint served as Bhauji’s caretaker and travel companion as substitute for Freeman some years back.  Flint’s brother Gabriel was taking care of Mohammed Mast, along with Erico, during those seasons when Bhauji would take groups of pilgrims to meet Mohammed for ‘blessings!’ and Mandali-mast banter.

Both dressed in bright red T-shirts, Flint and Indy sat some distance from Bhauji on stools near the bed, but Bhauji gestured them to come closer so he could hear Indy’s cute and innocent talk.  Indy lost his shyness when he spoke about his little sister Aliya.  He imitated her baby talk sounds while sweetly squirming in his father’s arms.

All in the room took delight in the scene as Bhauji said to Indy, “I like your actions!”

From Bhauji we send:  “Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh!”  and “Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho yours!” and “AVATAR MEHER BABA KI JAI!”

In His Compassionate Love,

Bhauji’s team.

Date: Wednesday, 24th July 2013

Jai Meher Baba,

We are happy to report that dear Bhauji is steadily improving. Because of the seriousness of his illness his recuperation is slow, but he daily shows signs of recovery. His kidneys continue to improve; his infection also appears to be under contro,l and he is more alert and responsive to his family and his Team.

By Baba's Grace we will continue to bring encouraging news to all of you whose prayers and good wishes are deeply appreciated by Bhauji and all those caring for him.

We will keep in touch as always

Subject: Today’s Bhau Chat Cancelled/Rerun/Loving Request
Date:  Sunday, 30th June 2013

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

This announcement just came in from Mother C (Creator, Janice):

THE CHAT IS CANCELLED TODAY,

Jai Baba dear friends,

Today, Bhauji is weak, sleepy and very lethargic today from an infection.  He is not really up to a Chat.  The first time Dr. Mummy Malinda proposed that we wait until next week, he mildly protested, saying, "No, this [the Chat] is the only thing for me."

But when asked a second time and told that we would replay a an older Chat for all who came, Bhauji readily agreed.

Mother Joy (Chianna) is in the process of downloading a previous Chat from the computer and will webcast it on the usual URL at about 4:30 p.m. Samadhi time.

Instructions on accessing the webcast URL are below.

Please send your loving prayers and greetings via the Inner-Net, and we will all join together in Baba's Love next week!

Also, a loving request from all of Bhau’s Teams, Personal, Clerical, and Medical.

Please do not email Bhau directly but leave your loving greetings and get well wishes in the text Chat Room itself (log-on instructions are below). Shiva (Lynwood) will consolidate them and send them to Bhau in a day or so.

Your loving greetings and get well wishes will be relayed to Bhauji when he is alert.

Thank you for passing on the word to others and for your prayers.

Date: Friday, 28th June 2013

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba!

To ease the burden on Bhau's health caused by the recent renovation of the Trust Office, the Chats have moved back into his room for the immediate future.

Although the dancers have far less scope to demonstrate their talent, the smaller quarters give the Chatters and Skypers a lovely intimacy with Bhau and his Beloved.

Subject: Bhau Chat/Webcast Sunday, 16th June 2013
Date: Saturday, 15th June 2013

Loving thanks to all those dear ones who expressed concern for dear Bhauji's health and made suggestions about improving the Trust Office environment.

We are going to have the Chat in Bhau's room for two more Sundays in order to allow more time for the renovated room to air out.

Architect Ted and Khan Saheb Bahadur (Shaheen) took all precautions.  They consulted with the contractor to determine the least toxic construction methods. The old wooden beams were replaced with steel beams.  The plywood panels were pre-treated in the factory so that no spray was applied near the Trust Office itself, and the oil-based painting of panels was done outside, etc.

After the renovation ended, we waited a week (during which we ran an air purifier in the Trust Office) before bringing Bhauji into it for the Chat.

Unfortunately, more time and purification seems to be required!

So we will be returning to Bhau's room for the Chats until the coast is clear

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba!

Another lovely, lively and Baba-filled Internet chat will originate from Bhauji's room this Sunday (along with the usual text Chat Room, webcast, and Skypers from around the world).  Repairs in the Chairman's Office, the usual Chat location, are ongoing, but we will be back in Bhau's office in Baba's good time.

Though we are still having technical difficulties with the JaiBaba.com website, but you can still log into the text Chat Room and Webcast.

From Mother C (Creator [Janice])

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba!

As one Baba-lover from Myrtle Beach wrote to Bhauji this week:

"...It was so beautiful to attend the intimate Chat in your room, full of Beloved Baba's atmosphere, and resplendent with photos and paintings and collage and lovely Baba colors."

Many were also so touched to hear and see (through Skype) Jamie Newell sing "Heartbroken Nightingale" from his SONGS OF HAFIZ CD. Adele Wolkin remarked on the song's power when Jamie had sung it during his recent visit to Meher Center, and with Baba's own Mandali and Poet of Divine Wine seated before us, watching and listening via Skype, Jamie's performance was especially powerful and resonant.

Do come to the second in-house Internet chat in Bhauji's room.  Repairs in the Chairman's Office, the usual Chat room, are ongoing, but perhaps next Sunday we will be back there.

Bhau requested that the following announcement regarding changes to Friday's Programme at Meher Pilgrim Center be sent out to the dear ones.

AVATAR MEHER BABA
PERPETUAL PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST
KING’S ROAD, POST BAG NO. 31,
AHMEDNAGAR, (M.S.) 414 001.

V. S. KALCHURI
CHAIRMAN

15th  Oct. 2012

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Beloved Avatar Meher Baba,

The forty-fourth Amartithi of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba falls
on Thursday, 31st January, 2013. For this sacred occasion it is
expected that pilgrims from all over India and around the world
will be visiting the Tomb-Shrine of Avatar Meher Baba at
Meherabad Hill, Ahmednagar (M.S.) India to take part in the
Educational Gathering. The observance of the forty-fourth
Amartithi (Anniversary of Avatar Meher Baba’s Darshan) will
be for two days, i.e. 30th January morning  to noon of 1st
February, 2013. The main function, as usual, will be on 31st
January, 2013.

Observation of Silence from 12 noon to 12:15 pm on 31st
January  at Beloved Avatar Meher Baba’s Samadhi is the
most significant event during Amartithi Days. It has been
observed that some pilgrims, who may be new to Beloved
Baba, are not aware of this and instead visit different places
at Meherabad during this time. It is therefore important that
all Centres impress upon Baba lovers the importance of this
programme so that they will be in attendance at the Samadhi
during the observance of silence.

By Beloved Baba’s grace, it will be made possible for pilgrims
visiting the Tomb-Shrine of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba, for
the forty-fourth Amartithi, to stay at the Meherabad Estate
from  8:00 a.m. of  30th January to 12 noon of 1st February,
2013.

ATTENTION

Darshan of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba will be available
inside the Tomb-Shrine through a regulated queue designated
specifically for this occasion. However, due to the influx of
pilgrims during Amartithi, it is requested for the benefit of all
that pilgrims take the least time possible for darshan and to
take darshan only once on 31st January, 2013.

QUEUE TOKEN SYSTEM

We are continuing our Queue Token System. After collecting a
single token with a number on it, each Pilgrim will  be free
to move about until the number on his/her token is announced
and displayed on the signboards. THE PILGRIMS SHOULD
JOIN THE QUEUE WHEN THEIR NUMBER IS DISPLAYED.
Please be alert because if your number has passed through
the Darshan line and the next higher number has also passed,
you will miss your turn and will require a new token.

 A) REGARDING ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE:

Please note:

1) Pilgrims should not arrive at Meherabad before 8:00 a.m.,
on 30th January, 2013, and should leave Meherabad by 12
noon, on 1st February, 2013.

2) There will be stalls selling light refreshment and meals at
Lower Meherabad,  New Site and Upper Meherabad till early
afternoon on 1st February, 2013.

3) There will be separate lodging arrangements for men and
for women at Meherabad as usual. Pilgrims are reminded that
they should continue to abide by Beloved Baba’s wishes, as
expressed by Him in the 1958 Sahavas, that men and women
pilgrims should stay in their own quarters and not visit, enter,
or rest in each others quarters. Pilgrims should lovingly
cooperate with the Management in this matter and the
Management reserves the right to caution any pilgrim who
fails to abide by Beloved Baba’s wishes as mentioned above.

4) Pilgrims are requested to bring warm clothes, blankets,
bedding with mattress, and flashlights (torch). The quarters for
men and women are separate; so to avoid confusion it is
advised that men and women of the same family pack separate
bags, and bundle their bedding rolls separately BEFORE their
arrival at Meherabad.

5) Meherabad Management requests pilgrims to use water very
sparingly. Hot water for bathing will be provided from 11:00 p.m.,
30th January to 7:00 a.m., 31st January.

6) Pilgrims in the close vicinity of the Samadhi are requested to
do their utmost to maintain the sanctity of the Tomb-Shrine.

B) REGARDING LODGING ARRANGEMENTS:

Please note:

1) In order to make it easier for pilgrims who wish to be
accommodated at Meherabad for the Educational Gathering,
the Trust will receive such requests directly.

2) Pilgrims who wish to be accommodated at Meherabad for
the Educational Gathering  must send an amount of Rs. 50/- per
person  for lodging arrangements directly to the Trust. Children
below 7 years of age will not be charged for lodging. Such
amounts are called “AMARTITHI DONATIONS,” and they must
be sent to the Trust as follows:

AMARTITHI DONATIONS
Avatar Meher Baba P.P.C.Trust
King’s Road, Post Bag No.31,
Ahmednagar, M. S. 414 001.

Please DO NOT  forward Amartithi Donations to the Meherabad
Office.

3) Many of our centers have complained that the post office are
not ready to mention MEN & WOMEN in their message to
Ahmednagar Post Office. As such you are now requested to
send your Money Order as under:-

Name: Rajendra Meher 2M 2W
Address:--------

We will then register 2 MEN AND 2 WOMEN in your name.

4) Pilgrims will be accommodated at Meherabad during
Amartithi days only if the words “AMARTITHI DONATIONS” are
mentioned on the Money Order Coupons.  The pilgrims must
also mention the number of men, women and children (7 years
and above) attending Amartithi.

5) A Bank Draft (D.D.) to A.M.B.P.P.C.T. can be accepted
provided a separate letter is sent along with it, clearly giving the
details of the number of men, women and children and the letter
must mention the purpose as “AMARTITHI DONATIONS”.

IMPORTANT:

These lodging requests have to be earmarked as “AMARTITHI
DONATIONS”,  otherwise such amounts will be considered as
donations to the Trust and the sender will NOT have lodging
accommodations at Meherabad.  Please note that the Trust will
not post separate receipts to pilgrims for the special Amartithi
Donations received through Money Orders.  Instead, Money
Order Acknowledgements will be sent which will bear the serial
numbers of Entry Tokens.  Pilgrims must bring these M.O.
Acknowledgements with them when they come.  However,
money received through Demand Draft will be acknowledged by
the Trust through a Receipt, bearing the Entry Token serial
numbers.

6) Pilgrims are requested to be very particular to give their full
names and addresses in BLOCK LETTERS on the Money Order
Coupons. They must also REMEMBER to bring to Meherabad
the Money Order Acknowledgement Receipt or M.O. receipt if
our acknowledgement is not received or the receipt from the
Trust giving the serial number of their Entry Tokens.  This will
entitle them to receive ENTRY TOKENS for their lodging from
the Trust at the Enquiry Office or Sub-Enquiry Office upon their
arrival at Meherabad on 30th January, 2013.

7) AMARTITHI DONATIONS must not be sent later than 7th
January, 2013. Money Orders and bank drafts sent to the Trust
as AMARTITHI DONATIONS after this date will NOT be
accepted and will be returned to the senders, as these late
requests cause much inconvenience to the Meherabad
Management and to the pilgrims themselves.

8) The Trust will have a separate cell (Amartithi Donations
account) for Amartithi Arrangements.  This cell will receive the
above mentioned donations.  Please note that the donation of
Rs. 50/-per person does not meet the entire expenditure for the
lodging arrangements for a pilgrim.  Therefore, the Trust always
subsidizes the balance of the lodging expenditure, which
includes the expenditure for electricity, preparation of grounds,
tarpaulins, water supply, and other expenses, in order to provide
facilities for the pilgrims.  In addition to this, the Trust provides
facilities for the Gathering at Upper Meherabad. The pilgrims
pay Rs. 50/-  per person for the roof shelter only, and not for the
other facilities provided.

Please note that those who register at the Enquiry Office on the
30th or 31st, and not before,  will have to pay Rs. 50/- extra
towards Amartithi Donations.  (Total Rs. 100/-)

9) The NEW SITE at Upper Meherabad: This site with the
facility of tents, bathrooms, toilets and parking will be
available for groups of pilgrims who wish to cook their own
food. This New Site is at Upper Meherabad  not too far from
the Samadhi. Kitchens will be erected on this site only.
Therefore, groups who wish to cook their own food in the
kitchens must accordingly inform Trustee Shri Jal P. Dastoor,
c/o Avatar Meher Baba P.P.C. Trust, King’s Road, Post Bag
No.31, Ahmednagar (M.S.) 414 001 through letters which
Jal must receive by the last week of December 2012. Also,
when these kitchen-groups of pilgrims send their money to
the Trust (and not to Jal Dastoor) for their lodging, they must
make special mention that they wish to lodge at the New Site.
Special Entry Tokens will be prepared for such pilgrims, and
upon their arrival at Meherabad they will have to collect
Special Entry Tokens and Kitchen Number only  from the
Sub-Enquiry  Office at the New Site.

10) During Amartithi, in spite of police and security
arrangements, some thefts do occur. Therefore, pilgrims are
cautioned to be very careful with their valuables, especially of

Subject: Bhau's Message for Beloved Baba's 118th Birthday
Date: Wednesday, 22nd February 2012

[Based on Bhau's Birthday Message for the Avatar Meher Baba Challapalli Centre in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh.]

******

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

My dearest Beloved Baba, Meher Baba,

25th February is Your Birthday, and what is a birthday?

I know not.

We celebrate Your Birthday but it is the Birthday of the One Who is not born and Who does not die. Your Birthday is celebrated! It is because You are connected with the body. You appear in the body, and afterwards, You change the body.

You come down on earth in different names and different forms, but You are One and the same, the Ancient One. You are the One Who came as Mohammed, Who came as Zoroaster, Who came as Jesus, and You came as Ram, Krishna and Buddha.

As Buddha, You did not go to China, but Your followers went there, and the program for Your Birthday went from India to China.

*****

In the beginning, when I joined Baba, He asked me to grow a Chinese [Fu Manchu] moustache. I had not gone to China, but in the first year of Baba' s travels, Pendu, Vishnu and others were in China for three months. They were the Chinese group, and every one of them had the same moustache! The Englishman Herbert Davy [Kitty Davy's brother] was a professor there (though he did not have a Chinese moustache!)

Pendu had learned how to grow and maintain a Chinese moustache, so when Baba gave me this order, Pendu cut my moustache in the Chinese fashion. Though other Mandali had also been in China with Baba, only Pendu could cut my moustache in the Chinese way.

I would go to Post Office every day, and when people saw my Chinese moustache, they would laugh at me - laugh and laugh!

But there was one boy, named Ismail, who saved me.

Originally, every day Ismail had been collecting cow dung near where we were staying with Baba in Satara.

One day Baba called this boy. "What are you doing?"

"I'm collecting cow dung," Ismail replied. And he started weeping.

"Don't worry," Baba told him. "You wash your hands and come to Me."

When Ismail did so, Baba gave him five rupees, and Ismail went.

At 6:00 a.m., I would bring Ismail to Rosewood, where the men Mandali were staying, and then at night take him back. Every day, when the boy came, Baba would instruct me, "Take care of Ismail."

Because of Baba's order, I would take Ismail under an umbrella both ways, even at night. [Note: In India, people of high rank were shielded under umbrellas as a symbol of respect.]
.
People would laugh and laugh when they saw me with Ismail under an umbrella. We would also pass by a hostel for boys and girls, and they, too, saw me holding an umbrella over the boy who had been collecting cow dung.

"Now what has happened?" they would think. " This man always takes that boy under the umbrella - even at night, when there is no sun!"

They would laugh and laugh, but I would not mind their laughing. It went on and on.

One day, Ismail said to me, "What is this moustache? You are not Chinese."

"Tell Baba," I replied. "I also don't like it!"

So he said to Baba, "What is this moustache on Bhau? He's not Chinese. I don't like that moustache. Ask him to cut it."

"All right," Baba told me, "Then cut it and get rid of it. Ismail does not like it."

And I was very happy!

Every day I would take Ismail to Rosewood under an umbrella, and at night I would take him back. I was a figure of laughter to people along the way. But Ismail did save me from that Chinese moustache - Pendu cut it and brought me down from it.

The story of Ismail is very long, so I will cut it short. But it is a very, very amazing story how he would command me, and I would follow. How he would sit on a chair, while I would stand.

I am giving this message, my dearest dear ones, thinking that you all will laugh and laugh.

Happy, Happy Beloved Baba's Birthday to you, and all dear ones of Beloved Baba throughout the world,

Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho yours!

With all love and Jai Baba to you,

In His Love and Service,

Bhau

Subject:  Updated Bhau Chat Skype Instructions

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

As always, please do NOT send private messages to Bhau during the chat.  They are very confusing to the typist and throw the sequence of Bhau's responses out of kilter.

From Mother P Squared (Joanna):

As always, many thanks to Skypers for their courtesy in recognizing that so many people are longing to Skype Bhau and keeping the length of their Skype to a minimum.

The Skype feature of the Bhau Chat is working very well, and Bhau loves hearing the dear ones and seeing their faces.  But there is still room for some refinement.

Please note that the Text Chat and the Skype are totally independent. Mother C (Janice [Creator]) is in charge of the Text Chat.  Because Mother P Squared manages the Skype and is totally focused on it, she does not monitor the Text Chat and has no way of knowing if someone is Skypeable if they post an announcement on the Text Chat.

So please do NOT mention that you are Skypeable on the Text Chat. Instead, send a TEXT message to the Bhauchat Skype address.

Mother P2 Squared will send you a Skype Text back noting that she is aware that you are Skypeable.

Once you have notified that you are Skypeable, remain online until the Bhau Team contacts you or the chat ends.  If you decide to leave the Chat, please notify the Team you are logging off.  It disrupts the flow of the Chat terribly when Bhau is ready to chat in person with someone who has indicated that they are Skypeable but when the Team tries to contact that person, they have logged off.

Also, if you have been fortunate enough to have a Skype with Bhau one week, please skip a week or two before signing up again to allow others their chance to see Bhau cyber face-to-face.

As there are only 10-12 slots available per Chat for Skypers, we are trying to figure out an equitable arrangement to minimize the number of people who have indicated they are Skypeable but are not Skyped before the Chat ends.

Bhau and everyone on his Team appreciates your patience and understanding.  Thank you for your most loving support, and we look forward to seeing and "seeing" you dear ones on the Chat each week.

Mother P Squared

****

If you would like Bhau to Skype you.

1.  Make sure that Bhauchat is on your Skype Contact list,   If it is, skip to DURING THE CHAT.

2.  There are two ways to add Bhauchat to your Contact list:

A.  Type "Bhauchat" (without the quotation marks) in the box below Contacts.  You will receive a message:

i. "Bhauchat is not in your Contacts."

ii.  Below this is a an icon with a white cross in a green circle and the words:  "Find this,"  Click on the icon.  This will take you to the:

iii.  Skype - Add a Contact screen, which should say:

1 match found for Bhau chat
Bhauchat
India

with an

Add contact

Icon.  Click on this icon, and Bhau's Team will accept you for the Bhauchat Contact list.

Or

B.  You can go directly to the Add a Contact icon (just above the Call phones icon) and follow the above procedure.

DURING THE CHAT:

1.  When you are ready to receive a Skype from Bhau's Team,

THE PROCEDURE TO CONTACT BHAU HAS CHANGED SLIGHTLY.

DO NOT go to the Chatroom and type that you are Skypable.

Instead, alert the Bhau Team via Skype itself that you are available on Skype.  Please keep this announcement brief, as things are happening so fast during these chats, additional information in your Skype readiness messages are  confusing to Bhau's team.
Please do not send any messages to Bhau via Skype other than the fact that you are Skypable.

2.  Bhau's team will contact you when they can Skype you.

*****

WHEN YOU ARE SKYPING BHAU:

From Magician (Hughie):

There are three volume controls that Skypers need to be aware of.

The following instructions are for Windows, but apply similarly to Macs.

Please note that Mute is indicated by a circle with a red slash through it.

The three volume controls are:

1.  THE MASTER COMPUTER VOLUME CONTROL.

This is usually indicated by a small gray icon in the lower right hand corner of your computer.  This controls both the Webcast Volume and the Skype volume.

It must NOT be muted when Skyping Bhau.

2.  THE WEBCAST VOLUME CONTROL

On Windows Media Player, this icon is a speaker with sound semi-circular sound waves coming out it.  When muted, there will be a red circle with a slash over the sound waves.

This MUST BE muted when Skyping Bhau.

If you are listening to the Webcast on a different media players, the instructions would be similar.

3.  THE SKYPE VOLUME CONTROL

The icon a speaker with a soundwave to the right of the microphone volume.  This icon is ONLY visible when a Skype call is in progress.

It must NOT be on mute.

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

The Chats continue to be lively and engaging with more and more people joining Bhau from all over teh world.  An amusing Skype from last week's chat between Bhau, Herman-the German (Loew) and Iraj (Namiranian):

[Begin Skype with Herman the German and Iraj.]

Iraj - Jai Baba, Bhauji.

Bhau Kalchuri - Jai Baba!

Iraj - Wonderful to see you!  Who else is there?

[Mother P Squared shows Skype screen to room.  Pari, Iraj's wife, is standing next to Bhauji.  She kisses Bhau's hand for both Iraj and Herman.]

Pari - Jai Baba to Herman and Iraj in California, U.S.A.

Mother P Squared - Iraj is in California, staying with Herman the German.

Iraj - Jai Baba, Bhau, I am reporting from California.  This is Herman the German, the piano master and my boss.  He is a licensed contractor in California.  I am working for him.

Herman the German - He is an excellent worker.

Iraj - I am learning a lot from him.

Bhau Kalchuri - Good, you can make progress.  My Sister Pari says, "He is deceiving me.  Don't believe that he is making a lot of progress."

Herman the German - Iraj is making great progress here, and he is teaching me a lot about Baba.

Iraj - He's kidding

Bhau Kalchuri - How is German and Herman?

Herman the German - I am first class.

Bhau Kalchuri - First class thief?

Herman the German - First class condition.

Bhau Kalchuri - See my Sister?

Herman the German - I am taking good care of Iraj.  He only wants grass.  He just eats veggies and green stuff, not real food

[Iraj laughs.]

Iraj - He is very good cook, host and boss.  I am learning everything from him.  He is paying me for the work I am learning from him.

Bhau Kalchuri - He gives you grass, and you praise him.  So you will get more grass!

Herman the German - I will come back in November.

Bhau Kalchuri - Good!

Herman the German - Now you both look very nice together.  We are having a very interesting time with the German ego and the Iranian ego, we are like two goats butting heads:  This way!  No, that way!

Iraj - Eventually I have to give in, because he is my boss.

Bhau Kalchuri - Before I close, I will enclose you both in a cage, and you will eat green grass.

Iraj - Pari should be happy because I am learning to cook from Herman the German.

Bhau Kalchuri -Oh!

Herman the German - Cooking meat, not grass!  When he gets back he will be able to help you fix the house better.

Pari - Good!

Bhau Kalchuri - He is under training!

Herman the German ¬ We are both training each other.

Iraj ¬ He is the master.

Herman the German - No, it is the Irani donkey and the German donkey.

Pari - That is why you are put in a cage!

Herman the German - Yes, put us in a cage and put us in a circus, and we will bring money for the Trust.

Bhau Kalchuri - Good!  Do your best.

Iraj - Good to see you.  We miss you.

Pari - Good to see you.  We miss you.

Bhau Kalchuri - Your Sister misses you.

Herman the German - That's very good.  Absence makes the car grow fonder.

Iraj - She should stay as long as she wants, and she has to take care of her health.

Herman the German - Jai Baba!  Love to everybody there.

[Mother P Squared shows the Skype screen to room.]

All in Room - Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

[Skype with Herman the German and Iraj ends]

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

From Mother P Squared (Joanna):

The Skype feature of the Bhau Chat is working well, and now that Bhau
is curtailed his traveling, he especially loves hearing the dear ones
and seeing their faces.  It is how he remembers you.  But there is
still room to improve the experience for the Skypers and Chatters.

Please note that the Text Chat and the Skype are totally independent.
Mother C (Janice [Creator]) is in charge of the Text Chat.  Because

All of Bhau's Team understand what an incredible privilege and treat
is to be able to see and speak with Bhau.  But as there are a huge
number of people wishing to Skype him, Bhau's Team lovingly requests
everyone to keep the length of their Skype chats to a minimum.

Also, if you have been fortunate enough to have a Skype with Bhau one

A profound exchange tweaked from last week's chat:

Chrystabel - Dear Bhauji and chat team, I haven't been able to listen to the chat for a long time, but I am so happy that you have recovered your health enough to do these chats again.  It's wonderful.

I am listening to the chat from Japan today, my home - I live in Tokyo.  I haven't been able to listen to the chats recently, so I don't know if you have already talked about the situation in Japan, but I would like to ask you what you think about it.

Although we didn't suffer much damage in Tokyo from the earthquake, there is still the danger of the nuclear radiation leaking now into the sea and the environment.  Many of my friends from other countries are urging me to leave Japan, but I was planning to stay for one more year.  It's very hard to know how much the danger is here for all of us.  I apologize if you have already talked about this a lot, and I didn't hear it.

Bhau Kalchuri - My dear Sister Chrystabel, please.  I also know what is going on in Japan.  Every day, I find out what is going on in Japan and in other countries.  The situation is going from bad to very bad to worse, but this is the outward situation.  It is not inward.

You are a person connected to Baba inwardly, and remember, your situation, will never be changed.  Nobody will change this relationship.  Your inner situation will be all right.  and you should feel, "Oh, the inner situation is different from the outer.  I am in a better position."

(to the chat attendees in the Trust Office) I knew Chrystabel here.  She came twice.  She met me and told me that she lives in Japan.

So Chrystabel, don't worry about anything.  Be happy!  Don't worry!  Even if you are in trouble, don't worry.  This outer trouble will go on, but this trouble is also important, and gradually, gradually, you will come to know this.  So please, when such trouble comes, remember Meher Baba.  One day you will know that He is the Ancient One, and He is the same One, Who comes back again and again.  Now, you!  [points to Ashok]  Say that prayer:   Seven Names.

[Ashok and all in the room sing "Hari Paramatma Allah Ahuramazda God Yezdan Hu."]

Chrystabel - Goodnight everyone.  It was very nice to spend some time with all of you tonight.

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

The following touching excerpt was tweaked from Bhau's opening to last week's chat:

Bhau Kalchuri - My Brothers and Sisters, Jai Baba to you!

I wanted to visit and meet you this summer, but my health is such that, though I look very good, I am going backwards, and I cannot come this year.  Until now, every year I would visit the whole world, but now I can only visit the world through the Internet.

So please excuse me for the fact that his year I cannot come and visit you in person.  Why?

The reason is that my health is very bad, though I look good!

You see me, and you say, "Why he is not coming? His health is all right!"

This is not the case.  My health is very bad.  Otherwise, I would have come.  I do want to see my Brothers and Sisters, but because of my health I cannot do so. Please excuse me, and pray to Baba, "It is not that Bhau is deliberately not coming, but his health is not good.  Though he wants to come very much, he cannot, and we believe 100% what he says."

*****

As always, Bhau's participation depends on upon his health, and he may drop in and out at any time.

When Bhau joins in, the chat will be webcast (log-on instructions below).

He also very much enjoys Skyping dear ones and was able to speak in person to several people located around the world.  From now on, there’s no need to send your Skype ID through the chat, but rather send your availability message through Skype itself to Bhau at Bhau Chat, and a member of the Team will inform Bhau that you are Skypeable.

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Last week's chat went beautifully well, without any technical glitches.

As always, Bhau's participation depends on upon his health, and he may drop in and out at any time.

The tweaked opening from last week's chat:

Bhau Kalchuri -Jai Baba, my dearest dear ones.  I cannot say anything but how you are how you are lifted with the Beloved.  Just like the babul tree [Acacia arabica, able to thrive in waterless regions].  People may say anything, but you remain lifted, like the leaves of the babul tree.  If you take those leaves into your hand, they will not break because they are lifted.

Your love keeps you lifted with Him.  At the same time, the leaves enjoy freedom, the freedom from themselves.  They are not bound.  They have time to remain free.

How to praise you?

Nobody knows what is this freedom you are enjoying.  Every Sunday, you are present and join the chat.  You don't go for anything.  You just come to the chat room, while this Fool #9 --

[Bhau holds his Fool #9 sign.]

Bhau Kalchuri - He was absent two-three times! --

[Bhau folds his hands:  Namaste.]

Bhau Kalchuri - You are those who should not be compared to anyone.  The only thing I can say is that there are many in the world who attend the chat, while I don't attend it!

[All in the room laugh.]

Bhau Kalchuri - So in my absence, they attend the chat on Sundays and preserve it.  I am very, very proud of them.  They are the people who can say, "We are the lovers of Baba, real lovers!

Subject:  The High Tree and the Root: A Beautiful Message from Bhau
Date:  Wednesday, 30th March 2011

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

A meeting had been arranged in the U.S. for someone who had been staying here with Bhau at the Trust Compound.  The person wrote Bhau, asking, "What should I say about whatever happened to me during my presence there?"

In response, Bhau dictated the long email below, which was subsequently sent to that person.

The people sitting in the room when Bhau dictated the message were struck by its beauty and depth, and everyone wanted a copy.

Date: Friday, 25th March 2011

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

To my dearest,

I received your loving email dated 23rd March 2011, and whatever you have written shows what you think about Beloved Baba.  Thank you very much.

Generally, when you talk about me, you are permitted.

In what position, I am talking with others; I am telling you the secret.

I know that my Beloved is the High Tree, and I am just a root of that Big Tree.  I don't know when I will become the Tree, but I have become the root.  The Tree depends upon me, and I depend upon the Tree.

This is the important point to talk about me.  So please, remember this, and then you are free to talk about me.  Then, afterwards, whatever you want to say, on this basis you can say anything.

Yes, it is difficult to cross the boundary of the false self - very, very difficult.  But you have known the Tree and its root.  So even if you hold on to the root, you will go to the Tree.  That is the way you have chosen.  You do have not to think about it.  You have already caught hold of the root.  Now I am the only root left, and how fortunate you are that you caught hold of this root.  There is nothing to think about it.  Now you just remain attached to that root, and you will know.  One day, you will reach the Tree.

And your work will be finished!

You will become the Tree. That is, you have to be born to know your Self, and you will know.  Your mission of life will be achieved, to become the Tree. And suppose you have to remain as Perfect Master, you have to take birth for that.  You have to take birth, be reborn.

That is your lifetime's work, and your lifetime's work will be finished.  You will not have any experience - the Beloved always keeps you in dark.  There you are – you don't know from beginning to end.  It's just as if you are in dark, and then immediately, you see the Light!

That Light is so bright that if anyone could see it ...  But no!  No one can see it.  The person who experiences the Light - he does see it.

So how fortunate you are.

From that Original Whim - you reach that Manzil (the Palace of the King).  Only then you experience, because you see the Light.

What more?

I will tell you.

Now tell people whatever you like, but as you have asked me, I am telling you. I am the root of the Tree, and I am growing.  One day, I will become the Tree.  I will see the planes, one after another, but I will not tell anyone.  Really speaking, if I tell, nobody can believe it.  So why tell?

You have caught hold of the root, and you are going ahead.

You will say, "I have held the root since when?  But I don't have any experience."

Yes, you will have no experience.  There is no here and there of Time.  As we are in the gross world, you will ask yourself, "When did I catch the root?"

You will also think, "How much time I have spent?"

But there is no time for you.

For humanity, there is time.  Everything comes for humanity.  Humanity talks about rishis [sages] and munis [ascetics].  If you go into that garbage, then, of course, it will take thousands and thousands of years to know God, or rather I should say, to know your Self.

You have taken hold of the root, which is the direct route that takes you to God.

And then you will feel happy:  "Good that I did not see this side or that side.  I just held on to the root, and I reached the Destination."

So my dear, if you want to know what to tell people in the meeting, I say that you tell them that you don't have any other desire.  "I don't allow desires to come in my way.  I just hold the root in my hand, and I don't know where I am going."

This is the way, how you should go.

So please, give my love to all who come for the meeting and embrace everyone.

Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! my dear.  Jai Ho yours!

May Baba help you to hold onto the root in both hands, because the root is not the root - it is the root of that Tree that takes everyone to the Palace of God.

Again Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho yours!

I am feeling your absence, but just see:  if you don't feel absence, have you left the Tree?

No.

This is inner experience.  It makes the distance very, very short, and then ultimately, one day, there is only You.  Then "I" and "You" will not be there, only the big ONE.

Today, Hazrat Zaman-e-Pir [Rustom Falahati] has come into my room.  He is sitting before me, listening to what I am dictating, so I have to be very, very careful.

I can only say:  That big ONE.

Rustom asked me, "You are watching the big ONE?"

I say, "No, I am not watching.  You are Zaman-e-Pir, so you are continuously watching the big One.  I don't know what you must be thinking.  On any account, you want to jump into the Ocean that is there, and just become One with the Ocean, along with your ma'am [Meher Falahati (Baba's New Life Gift)]."

She is also very good.  She serves Zaman-e-Pir.  He is my inspiration.  He is here sitting in front of me, so all this I am doing this because of his inspiration.

With all love and Jai Baba to you, my dearest,

In His Love and Service,

Bhau

This Just in from Mother C:

Date: Sunday, 6 March 2011
Subject: Bhauji will attend chat/webcast/Skype approx 6 P.M. India time (earlier possible!)

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!
Dear Shiva and team,

Please announce and prepare and help us! Jai Baba!  Bhau Chat today approx 5:30 or 6 pm India time!

Bhauji has said this Sunday morning 6 March, 2011 that “because people are coming on the chat, I feel I should be there today.” He would like to have the text, webcast and the Skype features.

At the moment, the plan is for him to take his early evening walk to Rama’s side (between 5:30 and 6 p.m.?) and to return in the wheelchair to his chair in the office to begin the chat.

His cough is not gone, though it is much lighter, and he does tire from talking much more easily than before his stroke two months ago. Therefore, we would hope for a short chat and trust all attendees will help us when it seems necessary to close.

Please join us and inform others who may not be awake!

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Although Bhau continues his daily walks and his health is generally improving, his cough persists.  He's asked Mother C to relay that he will be resting and will not appear in  tomorrow's chat.

Nevertheless, he sends you all his shastram dandavat pranams [full prostration pranams] and invites the dear ones all over the world to join in the chat with other Chatterers.

Subject:  Bhau-Based Chat Sunday, 6th March 2011
Date: Saturday, 5th March 2011

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Most importantly, Bhau wanted me to relay his loving pranams [respectful or obedient salutations].

Last Sunday, Bhau very much enjoyed listening to the chatters' comments being read aloud to him.  And later this week, a team member will read out the entire transcript to him.

For at least a week, every afternoon after the 5:45 prayers by the office staff, Bhau has been going for a stroll in the compound.  The walks have become longer and longer.  On Sunday, the office is closed and the staff do not come for prayers.  Bhau has grown accustomed to his walks, and on Sunday, he announced he wanted to go see the Ahmednagar Birthday Celebration being performed on a stage set up in the Trust Compound.

Bhau and his team took a shortcut through Bhau's office, and as Bhau looked around at his chair and the computer set up, he remarked, "Why not to do the webcast now?"

We actually seriously considered it, but as we have to jerry rig the webcast set-up, dragging cables to run different Internet streams through different routers, coordinating the different computers so we don't overwhelm the power supplies, etc., it takes a while to set up for a webcast.

Bhau understood the technical challenges, and asked, "Why not do it next week then?"

Which everyone agreed to if his health permitted.

So Baba (and MSEB [Maharashtra State Electricity Board, also known as "Maybe Someday Electricity Be There"]) wishing, Bhau will indeed appear on Sunday's webcast.  We can only estimate when he will appear, and how long he will be on the chat, so the following timings are for a three-hour chat starting at 4:30 p.m. Samadhi time.  His team can only suggest that you sign in when convenient.

*****

As last week, these chats could no longer be considered Bhau-less, we asked people to come up with alternate names.  The following excerpt has been tweaked from last week's chat:

Habib #1 - I heard someone asked Baba what the requirements for the spiritual path were and Baba said, "Obedience and a great sense of humor."

Isabelle, London - Here is my little take on the matter:  "I Talk and Talk Chat."  Option Two:  "The Silence Chat."

Maharajah of Kashmir - How about "Bhau-full Chat for Baba"?

I Am & Mother Mette - "Chat-in-Baba"?

Habib #1 - Or maybe "Chatti Baba!"

Maharajah of Kashmir - Hmmm! "Chatti Baba Chat-in- Baba!" so many good ideas.

Michele in Scotland - "Chatty Baba Lovers?"

Maharajah of Kashmir - That rings true.

Lemon Mummy - How about "Baba Chaddis"?

Paula, Camano Island - Aren't "chaddis "shorts" in Hindi. Then we would be "Baba's Shorts."

Ma Gnyan Shakti - I like that, Paula.  "Baba's Chaddis." Or a simple: "Baba Chat."

Habib #1 - "Bhau's Sunday Chat" possibly

Mother Namo - Fun ideas

Isabelle, London - "The Potato Diaries?" (In reference to Bhau's nickname Mr. Potato?)

Meher Priti - Good one, Isabelle, it was so funny to hear.

Maharajah of Kashmir - If someday the chats are printed in book form, "The Potato Diaries" may serve as a subtitle.

Habib #1 - "Mr. Potato and the Sunday Spuds Original-Beyond-State Chat."

Isabelle, London - Great Habib!  Bhau will love that!

Ma Gnyan Shakti -"Heavenly Mashings"?
I
sabelle, London - Okay, no copyright for that one!  Ha-ha-ha.

Habib #1 - What have we unleashed here?

Isabelle, London - Heaven forbid non-Baba lovers come on this chat. What will they think? We are all masts intoxicated by Potatoes!

Furman - I think I read that Baba said, "Its all a potato. That was Indian slang for nothing, like the local term "goose-egg."

Habib #1 - No.  Just loonies

Isabelle, London - You mean "Spuddies."

I Am & Mother Mette - Since It's 3. 52 AM here, what about "The Nightshade Chats"?

Isabelle, London - I Am must have a good one for the chat name?

Admin - All suggestions will be read out in their entirety later this week.

Ma Gnyan Shakti - One more, on the potato theme: "The Spud Files."  That's for the book Maharajah of Kashmir was talking about.

I Am & Mother Mette - "Not-So Bhau-less Chat" is my suggestion.

Furman - Hmm.  Bhau-Based Chats.  BBC World News?

Maharajah of Kashmir - Good idea Furman."

Furman - "Bhau Based Chats.  BBC World News."  Now that would be one world news show I would never miss.  For all it would broadcast would be the Real Good News.

Quest for NH - Jai Baba to that!

Maharajah of Kashmir - when I was a little boy in church, my grandfather was always an usher; and sometimes the priest's sermon would be boring, so my grandpa would make us laugh. He taught me that good humor is a spiritual characteristic. The fun in today's chat brings to my mind those special Sundays with my grandpa. thanks

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Bhau and his team hope everyone had a lovely celebration for Beloved Baba’s 117th Birth Anniversary, and if your celebrations are this weekend, that they are equally filled with Baba’s love.

Despite persistent and agonized coughing, Bhau has been doing very well the last few days and rose at 4:30 a.m. yesterday morning to say seven Jai Babas at 5:00 a.m.  Although he did not go to the Birthday Play, he looks forward to seeing it on video when it becomes available.  And yesterday, for the first time since his stroke, he strolled out to the compound courtyard and took in all the decorations arranged for Baba’s Birthday.

The Chats are still not being webcast, but last week, Bhau did indeed put in a cameo text appearance.  He delivered a very sweet message to the assembled chatters, which later formed the basis of his Birthday message.  Although Bhau would enjoy being able to participate in the Chat, whether he will be able to or not depends on his health.  Baba janne.  [Baba knows.]

So it's a misnomer to call these chats, "Bhau-Less," as sometimes he participates, sometimes not, but his presence always permeates them along with Baba’s.  We thought of "Bhau Inspired Chat" or "Bhauji's Chat" or "Bhau-Would-Love-to-and-Might-Possibly-Put-in-an-Appearance Chat" "Or-Bhauji-Wishes-He-Were-Here Chat." So for lack of better term, we will call them "Bhau-Based Chats."

Maybe you chatters can discuss better terminology tomorrow.

Portions of the chat were read out to him, but not the entire transcript, due to the heavy volume of pilgrims coming to offer him Baba Birthday greetings.

Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

I feel so happy that I can express in my heart Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho! yours for Beloved Avatar Meher Baba's 117th Birthday.

I am so happy that I just bow down to you all who are present here and also to those who are not, for they, too, love Baba.  You all are persons in His contact.

Even those who do not know anything about Baba, if they follow Zoroaster, Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed - Who, along with Beloved Avatar Meher Baba, are all seven in the Chain - I feel they have come into His contact.   Those Who are in the Chain are one and the same One.

I bow down also to those who are not in His contact.

I have no hatred, so I just bow down to you, my loved ones, with full regard, honesty and all love from my heart.

Today is not a day that I can reach anyone through any medium other than my heart, but just see.  I feel happy that today, at least, I'm bowing down to you all for Beloved Baba's Birthday.

Actually, I should bow down to you 101 times!  Because of my health, I cannot do that.  But at least I can say out 101 times, "Jai Ho.  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho yours!"

And one more thing I can do, I can send my love and regard 101 times to You, O Beloved.

With all love and Jai Baba,

In His Love and Service,

After a jam-packed Valentine's Day, Bhau suffered a slight relapse of his cold.  Nevertheless, he continues to recuperate, though his medical team continues to insist that he take rest and not deal with emails or phone calls.  Unfortunately, because of his cold, he cannot meet with pilgrims at this time.  A further health report will be sent out very soon.  A much as he would like to, Bhau will be unable to participate in Sunday's chat.

But you are more than welcome to join with other Baba lovers from around the globe to share memories and insights in remembrance of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba and his close disciple, Bhau.

Habib #1 - Jai Baba, Isabelle and Michele!  You, both must have the same alarm clock.

Michele in Scotland - Jai Beloved Baba to you, Habib and Isabelle and Mother Namo!

Isabelle, London - Jai Baba.  Good Morning dear Bhau, family, and Mummies and all Baba Bird Twitterers.  It is good to log in and to feel present in this moment with you.  I hope Bhau is making good recovery, and I am glad to know that pilgrims can once again come to visit him.  I have had a good week, full of Baba surprises, and most of all a lot of gratitude in my life and feeling a lot of love for my husband.  God, the dog, is very mischievous and keeping me busy.  I send you love and hope to come back on later, but I have to go to visit my Mother.  Love in Baba to you, dear Bhau, and all here present xx

Habib #1 - Jai Ho!

Michele in Scotland - Jai Ho to you Isabelle!

Isabelle, London - Jai Jai Jai Ram!

Michele in Scotland - It's good to hear that Bhauji is recovering.  I know that Baba is sitting with him all the time and beaming His love into Bhau's lion heart.

Mother Namo - Jai Baba, Michele and Queen.

Isabelle, London - Are you all well in Baba?

Mother Namo - Well in Beloved Baba indeed!

Habib #1 - Doing well here.  Hope you are.

Michele in Scotland - Yes.  It's coming up to Valentine's Day - a time to know that Baba is every heart's true Valentine.

Isabelle, London - In deeds?  I have Valentine every day in my heart with Baba

Mother Namo - From the back cover of dear Bhauji's Ocean Waves, "Our Beloved has the Universal language, and any language in the world, if voiced by the heart, becomes the song of the Beloved.  This song may differ from country to country according to the language of the country, but the voice of the song is common in every language."

Michele in Scotland - Thank you, Mother Namo.  That is wonderful to read.

Mother Namo - Hopefully in deed, too.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Yes, Mother Namo.  Your words evoked a line from a beautiful song, "Something is happening here."  I don't understand but it does feel like His song coming to greet us.

Habib #1 - May Beloved Baba keep us all, and especially dearest Bhauji, who not only reflects Baba's Love so brilliantly but has helped us all to come closer and closer to Him.  Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Robert - Jai Baba, family!  Love thoughts with dearest Bhauji and our Beloved!

Habib #1 - Jai Baba, Robert.

Mother Namo - I feel the same dear Habib.  Dear Bhauji, has, and still is, helping us so much in Beloved Baba's Love.  Bless His soul and love in Baba.  Thank you, dear Beloved Baba for the gift that dear Bhauji is.

Habib #1 - Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Mother Namo - In Beloved Baba's calendar I was touched to see that Valentine's Day is the day that Beloved Baba had dictated "The Task for Spiritual Workers" (1943).  From the February page, "Love is the cleanser that wipes the mirror bright and enables you to behold with increasing clarity the indivisible entity that permeates all life." - LIFE AT ITS BEST.

Habib #1 - How true.  The authority that Beloved Baba has when He says many things.

Michele in Scotland - A poem from Rumi:

"A moment of happiness
You and I sitting on the veranda,
Apparently two, but one in soul, you and I.
We feel the flowing water of life here,
You and I, with the garden's beauty
The birds singing.
The stars will be watching us,
We will show them
What it is to be a thin crescent moon.
You and I unselfed, will be together,
Indifferent to idle speculation, you and I.
The parrots of Heaven will be cracking sugar
As we laugh together, you and I.
In one form upon this earth,
In another form in a timeless sweet land.

Habib #1 - How sweet, Michele

Michele in Scotland - He was in love with God.

Mother Namo - Very moving.  Thank you, Michele.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Jai Meher Baba!

Mother Namo - Jai Baba, dear Maharajah.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Jai Baba, Mother Namo.  Jai Baba!  It is good to be here together in Beloved Baba's Love.

Michele in Scotland - Jai Beloved Meher Baba, Maharajah.

Habib #1 - Jai Baba, Maharajah.

Mother Namo - "You and I unselfed, will be together/.  You and I/In one form upon this earth, /and in another form in a timeless sweet land."  So beautiful.

Maharajah of Kashmir - There is a lovely book titled RUMI'S LITTLE BOOK OF LOVE- 150 Poems that Speak to the Heart.  It is beautiful.

Mother Namo - I'm just thinking of what dear Bhauji has created in His love with Beloved Baba.  Here we are meeting together in Beloved Baba's Love from all over the world!

Habib #1 - Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  You know what I mean

Quest for NH - Just logged on.  Jai Baba, Maharajah of Kashmir.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Jai Baba, dear Bhauji.  Jai Baba!

Team Baba & me - Jai Baba, dear Bhauji!

Maharajah of Kashmir - From Rumi,

"Never lose hope my heart,
Miracles dwell in the invisible.
If the whole world turns against you,
Keep your eyes on our Friend."

Jai Baba!

Michele in Scotland - Thank you, Maharajah.  I thought that perhaps it described what every soul, every person, every Baba lover could begin to feel, even a little.  Or think about each day, perhaps that Most Wonderful place to look forward to.  Or begin to create each moment we think of Him.

Mother Namo - These poems melt the heart.  Thanks.  They do serve as reminders and affirmations for what Beloved Baba is trying to get through to us.

Michele in Scotland - Yes.  It is like Baba singing back through His Own Avataric past and the song coming to greet us.

Isabelle, London - The Inner Net chat will get more and more colorful as Baba lovers wake up all over the world!

Quest for NH - Speaking of more colorful.  I like the fact that we can all choose our own color here.  Many different colors are represented here.  They shine together on the same screen like a beautiful rainbow!  Or Baba's flag!

Isabelle, London - It's the colorful tree of life in moving form - organic!

Team Baba & me - Dear Bhauji, when you are not here!  When you are ill, our sun goes under a cloud.  Your presence in our lives is such a bright joy, that everything seems in shadow when you're not here.  When you aren't feeling well, we feel the lack of your glowing energy and contagious vitality.  When you are sick we feel incomplete, like a jigsaw puzzle with a missing piece; please rest, take good care of yourself and feel better.  We miss you and want you back.  Get well soon.  Baba Love, Peter (Sweden)

Maharajah of Kashmir - Amen!

Mother Namo - I do feel that dear Beloved Baba is very generous with us through His Dear Beloved Bhauji, who has opened the gates of Baba's Garden through His service to Beloved Baba.

Here is a bit of how he did it, from OCEAN WAVES, Ghazal 99:  "To Become the Beloved's Slave"

"O Meher, I am amazed at the sight of this gift
You have bestowed upon me.
Your gift is in having made me Your slave.  I am no longer
Certain whether I am serving You or You are serving me!
Oh, ignorant people, why do you make of my slavery such a
Spectacle, why do you criticize?
Are you not aware that my slavery is a for Maharajah of Kashmiri Kingship -
One that eliminates all bindings?
It is no joke to become the Beloved's slave,
A willing slave at that!
This slavery is earned only through years of love, obedience
Surrender to the Beloved.
O people of the world, do not ask me what I have received
From the Beloved.
I have received the greatest gift possible in becoming His slave.
What happened when I entered into this slavery?
Even breathing was no longer my own.  My very breath
Was for His pleasure!  What a life this slavery is in the path of love!
The slave should expect nothing more from You
Than the gift of cheerful obedience.
O Bhau, thousands long to become such slaves of the Beloved,
Only a few succeed when the Beloved's grace descends."

Michele in Scotland - Thank you, Mother Namo.

Robin NJ - Some of you are so good at expressing love and appreciation for Bhauji!  I am happy to be a part of the chat and say Amen to that!  I wish, Bhauji, that you could be here enjoying yourself by sharing Baba's Love with all the chatters.  Love and prayers to you today and every day.  Jai Ho!

Isabelle, London - I have to go now so love to you all hope to be back in a couple of hours Jai Ho Jai Ho Jai Ho!  Am going to stay logged on its nicer!

Robin NJ - I am reading Bhauji's book THE NEW LIFE.  It is great!  I am loving every word.

Quest for NH - Robin, if you have the book nearby I'd love to hear a passage or two.

Robin NJ - It has been in my house since my trip to India in 2008.  Isabelle encouraged me to read it, and I'm grateful to be doing just that.

Quest for NH - Maybe you can recall a particular image or story that stood out to you?

Robin NJ - "Keshav Nigam wrote later of this first meeting with Baba:  'August 30th, 1949, was not only the most blessed moment of my present life, but it marked the culmination of all the blessed moments of all my previous lives and the long vista of my evolutionary sojourn, for on that day I saw God Himself on the earth in the form of Avatar Meher Baba.'"

Michele in Scotland  - Thank you, Robin.

Robin NJ - More from THE NEW LIFE:  "People call me the Lord of the Universe, but I am the Servant of the Universe!  I am the washerman come to clean the dirty laundry of humanity!  You are very fortunate indeed to have come here on this occasion, when I am about to enter the New Life."

Maharajah of Kashmir - "No longer is it necessary to withdraw from the world to find God.  God can be found in your daily surroundings, as long as your actions are dictated to Him, no matter what work you are doing, or where you are doing it, our responsibility toward God is to lead honest lives and to love God wholeheartedly.  Even in the midst of worldly affairs." MEHER BABA'S NEW LIFE, by Bhau Kalchuri, page 689.

Quest for NH - Jai Baba!  Thank you, Robin and Mother Namo - beautiful words.

Tektubby - Yes, Maharajah of Kashmir.  My coming to this chat room just now is a testament to dedicating life and action to Him.

Quest for NH - thank you, Maharajah, for sharing that.  I particularly am struck by this:  "God can be found in your daily surroundings, as long as your actions are dedicated to Him, no matter what work you are doing."

Tektubby - I just asked Him, "Why do You have me up at this time of the morning (5:00 a.m.) without sleep?"

The Bhau Chat was the answer!

Maharajah of Kashmir - The same question and answer came to me this morning at 6:00 a.m.

Mother Namo - As Israel chat time is an easy 12:30 noon time, I admire you all for your early rising into Beloved Baba's Love!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!

Michele in Scotland - Yes, indeed.  It's an 11:00 a.m. Start here.  Jai Meher Baba to all the early birds.

Quest for NH - Here, here.  My current Germany chat time is also an easy 12:30 noon, therefore I must admire the two of you; early risers!

Mother Namo - Habib was the first one on chat - when did you get up?

Tektubby - Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Maharajah of Kashmir - It is fun to see how Baba uses simple things in life to help one remember Him.  I feel, that until I die, Sunday morning I will wake at 5:00 a.m. Bhau 's Chat will come to mind, reminding me of Him.  Really speaking this time, whatever that time be throughout the world, is time most beautifully spent, for it is in the remembrance and companionship of Beloved Baba.

Marta - Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai and Happy Valentine's Day Bhauji and everyone

Tektubby - Namo, Hello's to you from the Scheu home in Oregon with infamous Baba Janne.  Just a few weeks ago, Rick (re)told the story of how he met you.  It was in the company of Bhau and with Bhau's direct participation.  (This is Ben by the way.  We haven't met yet, but I still feel I know you.  Most every day, I see your picture of Jerusalem that you gave Lise and Rick.

Mother Namo - Dear Tektubby (Ben).  I have been thinking of dear Baba Janne many times.  Wondering how he was faring in Beloved Baba's Love.  Send him Namo's for being a shiny Baba friend, and my gratefully thanks for being a Baba love support in difficult days I had at that time.  Yes, dear Bhauji's belief in me and loving support throughout the years has been a great and wondrous gift from him and from Dear Beloved Baba.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Excuse me for a moment as I fetch a cup of coffee

Marta - Thank you, to everyone who thought of me and sent me prayers on 17th January.  My surgery went very well, and I am recovering very well.  Thank you, Beloved Meher Baba.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Marta I am happy to hear that you are recovering well.

Marta - Thank you, Maharajah of Kashmir and I remember meeting you last year in Myrtle Beach.  Jai Baba

Maharajah of Kashmir - Yes Marta I remember meeting you last spring in Myrtle Beach.  Jai Baba!

Quest for NH - Marta, are you the one from California?  Near Palm Springs?

Marta - That is me

Quest for NH - Yes, like Maharajah.  I also met you at Myrtle Beach last spring.  I remember you very well.  I found you to be delightful!  I loved talking with and meeting you.  By the way, this is Brent.  Do you remember we spoke in the kitchen?

Marta - I remember your name but I can't remember your face.  I am so, sorry.  Jai Baba!

Quest for NH - It's okay.  I too am from California.  You told me about your and your husband, and you shared a couple of Bhauji stories.  I am sure we will meet again at some point and then you'll go "Oh, yeah" you'll remember meeting me before!

Marta - What part of California?

Robin NJ - Sometimes, early in the morning, I feel so tired and tend to want to grumble.  I remember sweet Eruch falling asleep on Baba's shoulder and many other incidents of days and nights without sleep for the Mandali.  It reminds me to be so very grateful to even know about Baba and to have Him in my heart and mind.

Tektubby - Yeah, all one has to do is recall some of the trials of Meher Baba's New Life.  Tragedy becomes an adventure.

Mother Namo - I was reading on in MEHER BABA'S NEW LIFE from where you, Maharajah, have brought the passage and came upon this on page 694:  "In the New Life, Meher Baba laid a new spiritual foundation for humanity - a new path to God that can be followed while living in the world.  It was Baba's greatest gift to the world.  / Those who desire freedom from attachment to the world and who long to love and serve God may be said to have entered upon the New Life.  / The Old Life represents a life of unconscious divinity.  In the New Life, the seeker or lover of God acquires a steadily growing awareness of the path leading to Divinity (union with the Beloved).  / Baba did not undertake the New Life for the benefit of the Mandali (His companions) who went with Him.  Although they joined the New Life with Baba in 1949, in essence they had been living it since the beginning of their life with Him.  In accompanying Baba, they each played a necessary role in this drama of the New Life."

Robin NJ - Yes, and it is so hard to fathom what Baba puts Bhauji, through over and over.  My job is to talk with a lot of people who are suffering.  I sometimes feel guilty but try to keep in mind that Baba is in complete control of everything all the time, and my job is to accept and go with the flow, and be aware and remember Him and take His name over and over.

Quest for NH - Robin, what is the news on Bhauji's health recently?  Over the last few days that is.  Or Mother Namo perhaps you would answer that?

Mother Namo - What I know is what we all know - The fact that Baba lovers can visit dear Bhauji, for short times means that he is doing better.  Our chat here is also with his loving and dictated presence.  This is not much.  He so much deserves this rest.  He has done so much for Beloved Baba and us all, and he certainly wore himself out in his dedication.  "This is not much" - meaning, we don't have much information on how he is.  Laughing Mother from Chicago will be coming back on 16th February and will be able to tell us more.

Quest for NH - Thank you, Mother Namo.  I agree about dear Bhauji, deserving the rest.

Robin NJ - Ah, Bhauji is so amazing!  Gotta go.  Lots to do.  Love and Jai Baba to you, Bhauji and all.  Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Tektubby - Namo, sent!  Via Inner Net and instant message [to be received when he wakes].  Is anyone here at the Center in India right now?  (I mean physically present.  I left my head at the tomb of Meher Baba back in 1985; but that doesn't count.).

Maharajah of Kashmir - Tektubby, it seems to me that He kept your heart with Him, when you went to His Samadhi.

Tektubby - Maharajah of Kashmir, yes, I have room for Him in my heart.  I like to think there is a comfortable place there for him to reside; though I know it is difficult to keep harmony there, I remind myself.  Hum!

Michele in Scotland - Leaving ones head at the Samadhi sounds like a good idea, Tektubby.

Mother Namo - Here, here, Michele.  Good idea - Mind-Mind, Stupid Mind.

Tektubby - Michele in Scotland, yes it was after reading the DISCOURSES that I realized that is what I did the last day before leaving Meherabad.  I bowed and left something behind, but I couldn't figure it out at the time.  I had no head!

Mother Namo - Ha, ha!  Funny.

Michele in Scotland - Our souls are smarter than we are.

Mother Namo - How did you finally figure it out?

Tektubby - Namo, I read the DISCOURSES.  There is a section in there about that.  Just then, I visualized that last bow.

Mother Namo - Nice.

Maharajah of Kashmir - I am wondering if you remember the story Bhauji often tells about King Harischandra?

It is a wonderful story illustrating the inner perspective of one who enters the New Life.  I wonder if the story can be found in Bhau's book, MEHER BABA'S NEW LIFE.

Mother Namo - I can feel the chat warming up with Baba's and dear Bhauji's Love and Joy.  Do you feel it too?  What is the story?

Maharajah of Kashmir - Oh, Mother Namo, Bhauji, has to tell us this story.  It is beautiful.

Cyclewalla Meher Baba - Loving Jai Baba to dear Bhauji and all in the chat.  Thanks for the NEW LIFE, page 694, reference.  A good read to celebrate our Beloved King of Hearts.  Signing off.

Mother Namo - Suddenly the chat screen went off, and I "Saw" in my minds' eye dear Bhauji sitting in his cushioned chair like a king, beaming unto us in his delightful and unassuming humorous way.  How beautiful.

Michele in Scotland - That's a nice gift, Mother Namo.

Quest for NH - Jai Baba, Mother Namo.  That is a truly beautiful image!

Maharajah of Kashmir - Mother Namo, this is a beautiful image that you share

Mother Namo - How fortunate for us to have had this blessedness.

Marta - Thank you, Mother Namo that put such a warm smile in my heart!

Mitra - Jai Baba, dearest Bhauji, Team, and Chat family.  Much love to all.  Jai Ho!  With you on the Inner Net

Mother Namo - Thank you, all.  Will log off now.

Maharajah of Kashmir - Yes, we are fortunate.  I am thankful that I am grateful now for this "Blessedness," rather then to have it pass and find myself saying 'Oh, why didn't I appreciate this as its happening.

Mother Namo - May we all be filled ever more with Beloved Baba's Love and Joy,

Michele in Scotland - Beloved Baba's Love to you, Mother Namo.  Jai Ho!

Tektubby - Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Mother Namo - Loving greetings to all for Valentine's Day in our joint love in The Lord of Love Divine!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!

Marta - Thank you, Bhauji and team.  Jai Meher Baba

Maharajah of Kashmir - Happy Valentine's Day in His love.

Mother C - Loving greetings from Mother C to all.  An update will be sent out this soon!  This evening, soon!  Bhauji is better and better.  Love in Him to you all!  Jai Baba!

Maharajah of Kashmir - Jai Baba, Mother C!

Michele in Scotland - Thank you, Mother C.

Quest for NH - Jai Baba to All!  Loving wishes to Bhauji for improved health especially!  Thank you, Mother C!

Mother Namo - Loving Bhauji, may you enjoy the love that is growing in us, which you tended so well in Beloved Baba's Garden.  Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Maharajah of Kashmir - Mother Namo you put into words the movements in my heart.  Thank you.

Mother Namo - Dear loving Mothers, Queen, Father and team Happy love greetings to you all and sending loving support to you in caring for our dear Bhauji.  Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Michele in Scotland - Beloved Baba's Love to you, Bhauji.  May your health continue to improve, day by day.  Happy Valentine's Day in His love to everyone on the chat.  Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Maharajah of Kashmir - Jai Baba, my dearest Bhauji and to everyone.  Happy Valentine's Day, Bhauji and to everyone.  Jai Meher Baba!  Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Tektubby - Visiting with you, Bhau, via Inner-Net daily.  Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Chick Feather, Ralph - Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Habib #1 - Jai Baba, dearest Bhauji and team.  A Happy Valentine's Day to all.  Continue to get better dearest Bhauji, as we all think of you and wish you the best.  Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!

Teacher Mercy (Mastani) - My dearest and sweetest Bhauji, a most loving Jai Baba to you and your team and all on the chat.  I could not connect to the Internet, but now it is working and I am so happy because I have an appointment but can at least send you my love, love, love, as I have been doing on the Inner-Net also!  I see that Mother C was online and said that you are doing better and better!  Xxx!  Baba's Lion is Baba's Lion!  Wishing you and all a Happy Meher Baba Valentine's Day.  He wants us to belong to Him so we make him our Valentine.  Please continue to get better and I will see you on the Inner-Net.  Jai Ho!  Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!  To those on the chat, thank you, for sharing your love in Baba for Bhauji and us all.  Much love,

Queen of Ethiopia - Once again awake and happy to send love to precious Bhauji and team and all chatters.  In His Radiant name and love.  Happy Valentine's Day to one who so well represents love to all of us.  Precious Bhau.  Jai Baba, King, Princess and Queen of Ethiopia

Subject:  Valentine's Day 2011 Snapshots of Bhau
Date:  Monday, 14th February 2011 (Valentine's Day)

Many, many thanks to all those who sent Valentine's Day greetings to Bhau.  We are in the process of reading them out to him, but did not get to finish as he was flooded with visitors yesterday.

As a picture is worth 1,000 words, here are 4,000 words about Bhau's steady recovery.  (Although as people become more visual and less verbal, perhaps the exchange rate has gone up, and at 1,500 words per picture, the following snapshots might be 6,000 words).

*****

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Dear friends and worldwide family of Beloved Baba and Bhauji,

We send sincere apologies for the long gaps in information and will try to do better in the future.

By Beloved Baba’s Grace, Bhauji has continued to make very good progress in recovering from his partial stroke on 5th January.  Dr. Anne, Dr. Gus, his family and  team are impressed, very pleased and grateful.  He continues to receive wonderful care from a big team of extra helpers day and night, with consultations and special supplements from doctors and other health practitioners here and in America.  Thank you all and all praise to Beloved Baba, from our hearts!

During Amartithi, Bhauji received a few scattered visitors who had come from far places and could not (and would not) leave without seeing him.  As we wrote previously, Bhauji participated with full attention and absorption in the Amartithi proceedings by watching the webcast in his room, missing even his bath and his naps to “be there.”

The renaissance seemed to be enhanced by visits from musicians and dancers in his room in the week after Amartithi.  The little chamber concerts were specially arranged for sweet healing, Baba’s love and time-pass.  Many thanks to dear Carol and John Gunn, Simon Reece and Carla de Souza, Viola Marks (Suspenders Sister), Sayeed and Tania Naderi, Behram and the Irani group, Kashmiri Walla Mushtaq, Ashok Ambulkar of Ahmednagar Centre, the Argentina group led by Gabriel and Daniel Bollini, and others for their beautiful offerings.

Bhauji’s first “longer talk” was in response to the passionate Baba songs of the Argentina lovers as they sat in a small circle around him with guitar, mandolin, flute and drum.  He told them, “I had heard there was such a group, and they sing...they sing….they sing…but I did not know it was such a one as this.  I am happy.  I am feeling touched.”  And about the three year-old boy, Dante, who played drums and sang along with them as he gazed wide-eyed at the many photos of Baba in the room, Bhau said, “Such a one, such a noble one.  You will see what he will become.”

Another beautiful stimulus to recovery has been the tremendous outpouring of love from around the world in the form of greeting cards received by post, with photos, happy memories, and deep expressions of gratitude for Bhauji’s life of service and spreading Baba’s message of Love and Truth.  He has enjoyed hearing the cards read out, looking at the photos, smiling and nodding with recognition and making occasional comments.  He has read many of the cards (the ones with legible handwriting!) himself.

In the last week, his appetite, sleep, vital signs and walking have all improved.  He has been greeting visitors and talking with small groups of pilgrims from Iran, India, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada, Kenya, Australia, Spain and Russia.  His talks and conversations are more distilled and economical than in previous times, but are very meaningful and profound for those present.  He gave lovely short messages for the Ajang family about Los Angeles (LA), and for close new lovers before their return to Shiraz.

Today, a flavor of his old story-telling and teasing with a serious intent returned, as he told a new couple from Iran and Germany about Dowlat Singh and the New Life.

Much of pilgrim-visit time is filled with singing or poetry (especially in Farsi!) or jokes.  Baba’s presence is felt by all, and everyone remarks, “You look better than when I last saw you!” or “You are shining; you look good!”

We are doing our best to moderate the visiting so that he does not get too tired and suffer a relapse.  Yet he says, “This IS my rest.”

He is still resting from full Trust work, but Trustees bring the most important matters before him, and he continues to guide them.

Three days ago Bhauji surprised us by agreeing to walk down the steps outside his room (with support on both sides, of course) and a little distance, up to the back door of the Trust Office.  There he greeted his happy and surprised staff, who only a few minutes before had left his room at the close of their evening prayers and  the “5-7-11” mantra number question, a joyful and humorous current tradition.  [The number of spiritual kisses Bhau instructed them to give their wives on consecutive days to maximize marital harmony, ed.]

The next day, he walked more distance, up to the gate of the open space which has been a “basketball court” for the grandsons in days gone by.  Yesterday, he walked even further, to gaze into the lovely parking lot of trucks next door - the place which becomes a Muslim prayer ground for thousands on festival days.

We are all very encouraged and hopeful as each day unfolds, yet we’ll remain cautious and protect Bhau’s need to rest and to not overdo.  It is clear that it is not yet time to go for talks at Meherabad, or to resume the Internet chats or the full routine of correspondence, Trust work and visitors.

Also, he has been repeatedly saying since the last tour of the West that he cannot travel again.  What Baba has in store for His devoted servant, no one knows!

Thank you all for respecting the need for continued rest when it is required, and for all your loving prayers and good wishes.

Another update from Shiva (Lynwood), with photos, will follow soon!

In Beloved Baba’s Love,

Janice/Mother C. – for Bhauji’s team.

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Bhau continues to recuperate, and his medical team continues to insist that he take rest and not deal with emails or phone calls.  The good news is that small groups of pilgrims are visiting him for very limited periods of time.  A further health report will be sent out very soon.  But as much as he would like to Bhau will be unable to participate in Sunday's chat, as evidenced by the following excerpt from last week's chat:

Mother C - Dear friends, wanted to let you know that this morning Bhauji looked at me and said, "Today is the chat?" Jai Baba!  Love from Mother C and all here.  A little better each day.  Visitors and music occasionally in his room!  Love, Love, Love.

Your loving cards and photographs are being delivered to his team and are being read and shown to him as he continues to recuperate and time permits.

Last week, although Bhau did not appear, several dear ones from all over the world logged onto the chatroom during the usual Sunday morning times, resulting in various loving exchanges and sweet remembrances of Bhau and Baba and a warm sense of family that Bhau appreciates.

As always, the chats are read out to him each him week, and he listens very intently.  Certain points, especially technical ones, or the identities of the chat participants are clarified for him as we go along.

Last week's chat opened with a few jokes from Adam (I AM), which Bhau and the rest of the team enjoyed very much, especially the last one:

I Am & Mother Mette - Best wishes for Bhauji's recovery. Here some jokes from Adam.

Q: What happens if you throw a green rock into A RED Sea?
A: It gets wet!

If you got the first one, try this:

Q: What kind of tree do you find in a kitchen?
A: A pan-try!

Q: Why do lobsters not get along?
A: Because they are shellfish!

Jai Baba!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!

A full transcript of last week's chat, tweaked for spelling, grammar and exchange threads, is now posted in all it's full color glory at:

http://www.bhaukalchuri.org/bhau-transcripts/chats/2011/ix-110206-www-cleaned-B.htm

and a plain text version will be emailed to you shortly to give you a sense of the Sunday chats.

THE ENTOMBMENT FILM (a.k.a. The Great Darshan)

The nice people at Meher Baba Film Archive International in England are letting us preview the restored film footage of Beloved Baba's Entombment. "The Entombment Film" (aka "The Great Darshan") of Meher Baba's laying to rest between January 31st and February 7th 1969.

MBF (or MEFA) was started by Delia de Leon and Pete Townshend at Meher Baba Oceanic in London. It is the most complete archive of film of Meher Baba in the world.

Their website is www.meherbabafilm.com where you can learn lots more about the preservation and restoration of the original film of Baba.

The present curator of the archive, Richard O'Casey, was uniquely given personal permission by Mehera and Mani to show The Entombment Film to people who have sympathy with or understanding of Meher Baba.

Richard told us, "All the 16mm Kodachrome footage taken at the Entombment has been very successfully restored. This ten minute film is a shortened version of the material to capture the poignancy and magnificence of this great event 42 years ago, and also to showcase the new restoration.

THE AWAKENINGS OF BHAU KALCHURI FROM BELOVED AVATAR MEHER BABA
By Bhau Kalchuri
With 9 full color illustrations
429 pages, Hardbound
Published by Meher Nazar
Rs. 700

Note:  This book will be on sale at the Meher Nazar stall at Meherabad during Beloved Baba’s 42nd Amartithi Celebrations.  Afterwards, the book will be available at the Meher Nazar Bookstore in the Trust Compound.

In 2001, Bhau underwent a triple coronary bypass operation.  After an initial upbeat recovery, his spirits plummeted into the very deepest abyss.  But one night, Meher Baba came to him in an experience Bhau later termed an “Awakening.”  Once again, Bhau’s spirits joyously soared.

Although these Awakenings generally occurred at night, they were neither dreams nor hallucinations and were far more vivid than either.  They occurred during a limited time span of approximately one year, and in beautiful, flowing language, recapitulated and expanded upon aspects of the spiritual path, Meher Baba’s message and His Manifestation, the rigorous life lived by His Mandali and further insights into Meher Baba’s New Life.

In perhaps the most major Awakening, “Yad Rakh [‘Remember This]”, Meher Baba reminded Bhau, “I Am Not This Body.”

Very soon after, these Awakenings ceased.

85 of these Awakenings, including a transcript of an actual Awakening in progress (excerpt below), have now been collected in a beautiful 429 page volume, with several Awakenings lovingly illustrated by the art of dear ones.

Below is an excerpt from an Awakening in progress (transcribed directly by Freeman):

*****

I don’t know how I am dictating this Awakening.  I am blank, and the voice in me is in my heart, and I am interpreting this.  There is nothing for me besides the voice.  Very silent … but what a beautiful voice it is!  I am fully absorbed in this voice, and I don’t know who am I and what I am doing.  How to describe this voice?

It cannot be imagined.

Jai Beloved Baba!  If You have the voice in my heart, I will have nothing to do with the world!  I will deal with You all the time and forget this world which does not exist!

What a bliss this is when I hear this voice.  It keeps me away from Illusion.  I hear only Your voice and remain absorbed, and the world does not remain there.  Only You and not the world.  How I am caught up in the world I don’t know.  How I got this ignorance?

I don’t know how I am passing through this ignorance.

From Bhau’s Team – Amartithi 2011 Begins

*****

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

The Amartithi program has begun at 2 p.m. today (Sunday, 30th January) in the amphitheatre facing Beloved Baba’s Samadhi.

Devotees from India, Iran, Argentina, Mexico, U.S.A., Australia and Europe are ecstatically offering their praises in the form of music, dance, magic, video, film and service.  Pilgrims are gathered under the colorful pandal to watch, listen, sing, dance and work as they await their moment of darshan in His Samadhi.

As most of you know, Bhau cannot attend – for the first time in 42 years - because of his health.  But he and his team are gratefully drinking in the blissful and colorful atmosphere of Amartithi via the webcast through the Trust website, on the laptop in his room.  He is resting, and at the same time, participating with all love, care and attention through his heart as Baba smiles at us, immortal, from Meherabad.

Tomorrow, Monday, 31st January at 10:40-11:05 a.m., Bhau’s 2011 Amartithi Welcome Address will be read by Senior Trustee, Ali Ramjoo of Pune (son of Baba’s Mandali Ramjoo Abdulla).  Bhauji's son and Trustee Mehernath Kalchuri will follow with a talk about Avatar Meher Baba’s Trust from 11:05-11:20 a.m.  Baba’s nephews Sohrab-Rustom and party will precede the Welcome Address with their lively music at 10:25 AM.   It is fantastic to note that the entire schedule, listing every individual performance through 1st Feb, is posted on ambppct.org/events!

We are happy to let you know that Bhau is still improving gradually. He is walking more in his room, and has stepped outside a few times, Jai Baba!  He is also talking a little more, and still shining when silent.  He has been also been happy today to hold in his hands the first copy of his new book The Awakenings of Bhau Kalchuri from Beloved Avatar Meher Baba, fresh from the printers in Pune – more in a later announcement.

Much Love in Beloved Baba from all here on these sacred days.

Happy Amartithi to all!

Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

In His Love,

Mother C (Janice [Creator]) - Bhauji’s Team

Bhauji is resting a great deal, and as a result, he is still slowly and steadily making progress in recovery from his partial stroke of 5 January, 2011. Some health details are given below, but this important announcement about Amartithi comes first.

It is with resignation to Baba’s wish that we inform all that Bhauji will not be coming to Meherabad during Amartithi, nor will he be meeting pilgrims in the Trust Compound.  Doctors, family and team all agree that because of the over-stimulation, stress, and physical discomfort of Amartithi, any attendance at the Hill programme, at Samadhi, or at his “Cheap Organizer’s” Office in Lower Meherabad would be too much for him. He has had a heart attack and stroke this year and such a strenuous effort could cause a relapse. For the same reasons, he will not be able to meet visitors at the Trust Compound during the Amartithi programme.

At the moment, Bhauji seems to be contented to hear the short reports of Amartithi activity which have come his way. We sense his confidence and faith in the magnificent work and selfless service of the Meherabad resident and volunteer teams, who have had such long experience in the preparation and running of the gathering under his over-all guidance as Chairman, and with Beloved Baba always in charge.

Regarding Bhauji’s health: Dr. Gus and Dr. Anne have been impressed by his rate of recovery. For some days he has been able to walk 7 or 8 steps from his wheelchair to his bed, with support on both sides as usual. His right leg is stronger, and he can stand without apparent difficulty for several minutes. He is also able to walk a few steps, with help, from his wheelchair to his bath chair, and do some arm and foot exercises while seated. He uses both hands and arms very well and can eat by himself, hold and read the many loving cards with photos that have been sent, and sign his name beautifully! as he did on the copies of the 2011 Amartithi Message (compiled from his messages from 2002 to 2010) to be read out by a Trustee on 31 January before the silence.

He is taking long naps in the day but is spending many hours also sitting in his wheelchair, getting massage, listening to letters and readings from Mehera Meher or Growing Up with God or “Bhau-less” internet chat transcripts, reading cards and looking at accompanying photos, hearing Rama’s bhajans and ghazals which she comes to sing most evenings, having short talks in Hindi with Mehernath, Sheela, Raj, Zubin or office staff, and happily communing with Baba’s photos on the walls of his room, or Baba in his heart, in silence. The office staff still comes each day at quarter to six p.m. to recite prayers from all different religions and to lightheartedly report the day’s number in the “5-7-11” mantra rotation! He has yet to show any inclination to go outside, though we have rehearsed the wheelchair-carry (too narrow for a ramp) for the time he is ready to see the sun.

Bhau’s words and speech are very clear, by His Grace, though Hindi words often spring up first. However, he is keeping much silence and seems very contented and happy with Baba, even blissful at times. When he does talk, it is usually in response to questions and very brief. But occasionally he volunteers very economical and distilled sentences which resonate with awareness, significance or his unique wit.

Looking at someone’s T-shirt which said “Live Simply,” he read it out loud, and added, repeating three times, “Don’t expect anything from the Beloved.”

Studying a funny photo-birthday card from Jeff and Cindy Lowe, showing their faces PhotoShopped onto Vietnamese costumes (with Cindy in Cossack-like hat), he said, “They look really….Russian!”

As several of the team members sat with him quietly, one remarked, “Like the scorpion in your night-watchman story: we are looking at you, and you are looking at us.”

Bhauji smiled very sweetly and said, “We might bite each other,” as we dissolved in laughter.

When asked, “Are you happy about this?” his reply was, “Nowadays I am happy all the time.”

And when someone queried, “Will this be good?” his answer was, “Between good and bad, there is no difference.”

Wonderful care has been given from the Meherabad medical team and other residents who have stepped up with love and dedication. Dr. Anne and Dr. Gus see him regularly, Shelley has come several times from Meherazad for physical therapy sessions and team training, and nurses Douglas Hare, Martin Herda, Laura Darnell, and Malinda McCullough have provided 24-hour nursing support to Bhauji and his grateful usual team.

By Baba’s unfathomable design, Khanbahadur Munsiff aka Shaheen Khorsandi, Bhau’s usual number one attendant, was forced to shift to Meherabad only a day or so after Bhauji’s stroke, because he had contracted hepatitis, was very run down and was feared contagious! He has been diagnosed with hepatitis A, has been resting at the Meherabad Hospital and is much better now. Naturally he is anxious to return to duty, but Dr. Anne wants him to be fully strong and recovered before he comes back to the Trust Compound. In the meantime, wonderful night-time paired teams of Martin Herda (Divine Hitler) with Abbas Ki Ani, and Amir Hussein Bahreman with Bob Fredericks have done night-duty in his stead. Iraj Namiranian (from Seattle) has been attending every day, with one day relief from Jessie Massa. Mothers T (Toktam Abouzary), C (Janice Rieman) Joy (Chiana Cloudtree), P Squared (Joanna Tompkin) and temporary Trust Compound resident pilgrims Queen of Australia Katie Pye and “Maharani” Mitra Namiraninan round out the fortunate care team.

Thank you all for the loving birthday and get-well cards with photos which have been sent by hand or snail mail, thank you for forgiving our big delays in acknowledgements, thank you for not sending emails unless an emergency, thank you for your loving prayers and well-wishes through the inner net. Baba is shining like the sun through Bhauji! Don’t worry, be happy.

In Beloved Baba’s Love,

Mother C (Creator [Janice]) / Bhauji’s team

Wednesday, 12th January 2011 (Bhau's Brithday Eve)

REST IS BEST, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BHAUJI FROM YOUR HEARTS!

Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Dear friends of Beloved Baba’s Bhauji,

Because of Bhauji’s recent stroke, he will be having a very, very quiet and restful birthday tomorrow, Thursday, 13 January.  He is improving slowly, but his doctors, family and teams agree that he still should not meet or greet any visitors and that full rest is best.  There is no event, celebration or party planned at the Trust Compound or Meherabad.

We know this is sad and disappointing for some, but please let real love prevail so he can heal.

It makes the team’s work more difficult and distracts from our care of Bhauji to have to turn people away.

Please help us by not coming to the Trust Compound at all, and know that he feels your love and receives your beautiful wishes and prayers.

Please celebrate amongst yourselves at Meherabad or anywhere if you wish to and send the happy song from your hearts to his.  You could honor his birthday with a card sent by post (please not in person or by email - see previous email for suggestions), or a donation to Avatar Meher Baba Trust! or with your loving service for Baba's Amartithi and His Birthday.

In Beloved Baba’s Love and Service,

Bhauji’s Team

Subject:  A Loving Request and Suggestion from Bhau's Teams
Date:  Wednesday, 12th January 2011 (Bhau's Birthday Eve)

BELOVED AVATAR MEHER BABA KI JAI!

Please read carefully.

As all Bhau's dear ones know, he is recuperating from a stroke in addition to all his other health problems.  But even while he recovers, he remains concerned about all of Baba's dear ones.

In the interest of his recuperation, his medical team insists that he not return to his crushing workload.  It is imperative that he NOT receive any phone calls or emails, etc. requiring his attention, and that all communication to him be via the silent Inner-Net connection of the heart.

But as there has been such a truly awesome outpouring of concern for Bhau, it seems unfair not to let the dear ones express their love to him in the Beloved, especially in light of the importance Bhau attaches to remembering the .  So Bhau's team of medical specialists and caregivers thought that a nice solution would be the one the Sufis employed in 2001, when Bhau was recuperating from his open heart surgery in Pune.

While he was in the hospital, the Sufis sent a box of beautiful cards to Bhau, each card with only a signature and at the most a simple sentence or two expressing only expressions of love and wishes for his speedy recover.  There were no questions.  No mention of personal problems or troubles or difficulties,

Then, when Bhau felt better, we showed him each card individually and read the few simple sentences aloud to him.  I'll always remember how the cards cheered him up tremendously, gave his ever-working mind something to occupy itself, and enabled him to remember the Sufi dear ones.  "What about this one, what about that one," he would ask as we showed the cards to him.

As was said, "Focusing one's mind and heart on Bhau and Baba through a card is a perfect channel for the loving concern being felt.  The box of cards from individual Sufis felt like one enormous heart, solidified in love for Bhau and Baba.  The love contained was palpable."

The team thought that simple get well cards would be a nice solution for both Bhau and all the people throughout the world who love him and are praying for his recovery.

If you would like to convey Bhau get well wishes or birthday greetings, send him a nice HARD COPY SNAILMAIL card.  NO E-CARDS OR EMAILS PLEASE!!!  Sign your name with at the most a sentence or two THAT WILL NEED NO RESPONSE from Bhau.

Also, as Bhau's circle of friends is so vast, and it is difficult to remember the faces of so many, if it all possible and convenient for you, please include a photograph (especially if you have one taken with Bhau), with your name and place and the approximate date the photo was taken on the back.

In the early years, Qawaali Singer John (Connor) used to photograph every person who visited Bhau.  It was such a good idea, but became impossible to keep up, and unfortunately, the practice fell by the wayside.

Recently, Bhau has been asking very pointedly to see pictures of people who participate in the chat, hence the introduction of the Skype portion.  This was the best solution we could come with, but if he sees your picture, he can remember you and associate a name with a face.

Then either give your card to a pilgrim coming to India to give to Bhau's team or mail it to:

Bhau Kalchuri
Chairman
Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust
Post Bag 31,
King's Road
Ahmednagar, India

Bhau's teams are very grateful for your prayers and good wishes and  will continue to update you with Bhau's progress via email.

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Dear Beloved Baba's Meherabad, Meherazad, Meher Nazar Trust Compound and worldwide family,

Our apologies to those who did not receive the first message about Bhauji's health sent on Friday, 7th January.  A severed phone/Internet cable prevented us from sending the announcement to you as usual on Tavern Talk.

Last week, dear Bhauji suffered a stroke. His doctors and family decided it was better to keep him at home instead of in a hospital.  He is being cared for by his usual team and the Meherabad/Meherazad medical staff.

He has been making small progress every day.  He can now feed himself.  He is able to take a few steps, with the help of his trusted assistants, and he surprises his attendants by saying more words and phrases.  But the fact remains that he has had a stroke, and he is very weak.  He needs to be allowed to go to sleep whenever he feels like it; and his team needs to be focused on his care and maintaining a calm atmosphere around him.

IMPORTANT:  Please understand that visits are not possible at the moment, even on Bhauji's coming birthday.  The best gift we can offer is to give him undisturbed time and quiet so he can recover better.

Also please note that the caretakers cannot take phone calls and have little time to answer emails.  Remember the "Inner-Net" is always working to transmit our love and prayers.

We will keep you informed.

In Beloved Baba's Service,

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Dear Beloved Meher Baba's worldwide family,

Bhauji, Beloved Baba's Mandali, our brother and dear friend, suffered a stroke early on Wednesday 4th January 2011. His right side was partially paralyzed and he had difficulty speaking.  By Beloved Baba's grace, he is already somewhat better.  He is now able to speak a few words and is moving with assistance.  There is hope of further recovery but he needs a great deal of rest.  He also has much weakness in his legs at the moment.  He is fully conscious and alert, occasionally smiling.  Generally speaking, he looks good. His famous and endearing self still shines through!

Dr. Anne and Dr. Gus, in consultation with other doctors and family, felt that he would get the best possible care and would be most comfortable at home, so he was not hospitalized.  He is resting and recuperating in his room/office at the Trust Compound.  He is being attended to by the medical team from Meherabad and Meherazad, his family and his team.

We regret that for the time being, Bhauji's Meher Pilgrim Center talks and Sunday Internet Chats are canceled.

Please help in his recovery by sending your loving wishes and prayers via the "INNER-NET," rather than by email or snail mail.

Also, he will not be able to have visitors for some time.

With much love in Beloved Baba,

Mother C - Janice/Bhauji's team

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Merry Christmas and Happy, Joyful, and Blissful New Year to all of you, my dear ones!  Silently in my ears, I found a chorus of Christmas from all over.

Today being Christmas, the trees and the plants in the Trust Compound have come alive. Whether people celebrate or not, our hearts are celebrating.  Actually, our hearts are full, because we know the Ancient One shows His beautiful face age after age.  During this age, we can witness Him.  When people see His pictures, they recognize Him.  Sometimes, even if they don't know why, His pictures still attract them, and they will come to know about Him.

Then they will know that they have celebrated Christmas for Him.

I hope and believe that all your dear ones must be very happy and joyful.  Today is a day of happiness, because everywhere in the world, the Lord is remembered.  And the Lord must be witnessing this.

With all love and Jai Baba to you, dear ones all over the world.  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!  Jai Ho!

Beloved Jesus Christ Ki Jai! and Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!  (Though the Avatar changes His Name and His Form, He is always One and the Same.)

In His Love and Service,

Bhau

The following touching excerpt has been tweaked from last week's chat.

There is a nice picture and story by Rama Rao at:

http://www.trustmeher.com/ramarao/ramarao-stories.htm

*****

Bhau Kalchuri - My dearest dear ones of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba, I am here before you, and the chat is about to be started.  Before we start, I will give you an introduction.  What is this introduction?

When I joined Baba in 1952, Rama Rao became the first friend of mine.  He was new, and I was new.  Baba had given me the work of going to different places in the east and west of India to give an introduction to the lovers who would come to have Baba's darshan.

I was quite new, and this was a difficult task for me.  Still, I agreed.  I went to different places in India to give an introduction to Beloved Baba.  When I was in Bilaspur, our Rama Rao came.  He was working on the railway, and when he met me, he said that he would be needed.  He requested that he be included in the tour.  I replied, "Yes, you are included.  Be with me."

He was very, very happy.  Nana Kher also joined me during this tour.  Rama Rao was very, very helpful.  Then he expressed his wish to join me when I was with Baba.  "All right," I replied.  "But it depends upon Beloved Baba.  I will ask Him."

That was Rama Rao's first introduction.  We did not even know whether he was married or unmarried.  We did not know how many children he had!  But Baba knows everything.

This happened in 1952.  There was some case going on against Rama Rao, and Baba said, "Be free from all the problems about the case in your life.  Then live here permanently."

Rama Rao accepted this and went back for his court case.  After his case was over, Baba permitted him to be at Meherabad.  .  He was doing good service, and Baba was happy.

After Baba dropped His body, Rama Rao came to Meherabad.  I told the Mandali that he was a good worker, and it would be good if he were employed.  The Chairman of the Trust at that time was Kutumb Shastri.  He employed Rama Rao, who became a Meherabad resident.  Until the end, Rama Rao was serving Baba.

On Thursday, 7th October, Rama Rao was standing in line to have Baba's darshan.  He suffered a heart attack, and he died then and there.  Trustee Jal P. Dastur arranged everything for him.  It took time for his relatives to come, and therefore, his body remained in his room in his home.

On Friday, after my talk at Pilgrim Centre, I was waiting, but all of Rama Rao's relatives had not yet come.  It was not possible for me to stay there longer, so I came back to the Trust Compound.  His relatives came to Meherabad very late.  I did not see who came, but I know that they did come, and they cremated his body.

This much I know about Rama Rao.  He served the Beloved and joined the Him at Meherabad.

So Jai Ho! Jai Ho! Jai Ho! my dearest Rama Rao, Jai Ho yours!  Now you will be serving the Beloved, and there is no word for you.  Just go on serving until you become One with Him.  That is the work for you, work you like.

Perin J. - Jai Baba to Rama Rao.  What a beautiful way to go to Beloved Baba - to be standing in the line for Baba's Darshan!  I knew Rama Rao, and he was always helpful.  I am very happy for him.  Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai.

Bhau Kalchuri - Now I have finished Rama Rao's story.  I request all you all dear ones to start your questions. I will feel happy to answer them.

BHAU'S MESSAGE FOR MEHER BABA’S NEW LIFE DAY
SATURDAY, 16TH OCTOBER 2010

Beloved Baba's New Life is a gift for those who take breath for God alone.  This New Life of Baba will be a beacon light on the path for all the pilgrims for ages to come who shed tears and will go on shedding tears in their intense longing to be One with God, and for all who are unable to find the path in the darkness.

O Lord Meher!  To awaken the world from the sleep of duality, You have hung up on the path of the New Life such bells whose tolling will make the world conscious.  The sound of the different bells, removing the sense of manyness in life, will show the world the way to concentration on the One!

O Lord Meher!  What have You left undone for the good of the world?  Being the King of Kings, You have turned into a beggar, binding Your New Life with the chains of utter helplessness, and showed the world that complete helplessness is the way to derive full strength, as the hub of complete faith in God is helplessness.

O Lord Meher!  For the welfare of the world You have been sacrificing Yourself every moment of time, and by that sacrifice, You have diffused the rays of awakening in the world!

We have no words to sing your attributes.  At every moment we should let flow our blood at Your Feet so that the wound in the heart may always remember and worship You!

… He Who is the hymn of everything, His food consists of simple rice and dal after hard labor.  He Who has everything goes on in sun, rain and cold, resting underneath a tree or in a hut!  He Who has innumerable servants sweeps His hut Himself and attends to all menial work.  He Who is all-powerful has, for His work, become helpless.  And He Who is the Ocean of Bliss undergoes untold suffering for the sake of the world!

O World!  Wake up even now and be under the protection of Lord Meher!  What has He left undone for you, and what have you done for Him?  You will have to awaken, since how can you go on sleeping, when the arrow of the sound of Silence pierces your heart?  Then you will keep on shedding tears and repent for your slumber!

An interesting excerpt tweaked from last week's chat.

****

In November 1930, Paul Brunton came to India, and Baba gave him nice discourse.  Baba also sent him to Nasik, where K.J. Dastur, the editor of MEHER MESSAGE, talked to him about Baba.  Brunton went to Aurobindo, to different ashrams, collecting material.

Then he went back to the West to write his book, A SEARCH IN SECRET INDIA.  But he had not understood Baba, and he did not write good words about Him.  Everything he gave in that book was wrong.

When the Mandali members heard about the book, "Baba, he has written this.  We want to reply."

Baba did not allow anyone to write anything against Brunton.  "Don't reply to him," Baba said.  "Not a word. He has served My Cause."

So it was good that Brunton had heard something from Baba.

Different people had different reactions when they read that book.  Many would come to Baba and ask different questions.  They became Baba lovers  and joined Him, and in that way, the book helped Baba's work.

Brunton's secretary, Louis Agostini, started coming to Baba and announced openly, "Whatever Meher Baba has said, He has said rightly.  Paul Brunton has committed a blunder."

And a note from Uncle Irwin (Luck):  Louis Agostini told me that Paul Brunton said to him that he [Brunton] may have been mistaken about Meher Baba and felt that Baba WAS a Master.

Bhau's Message for Beloved Avatar Meher Baba's 116th Birthday
On Thursday, 25th February 2010

*****

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

My dearest dear ones of Beloved Baba,

Today we are celebrating Beloved Meher Baba's Birthday.

In fact, He is never born, and He never dies.  But in order to appear before us, He takes on a gross body.  He is the One Who came as Abraham, and the religion of Judaism followed.  The same Ancient One came afterward as Zoroaster.  You will see that every Advent His face is different, but He is One and the same all the time.  He is the Avatar (the Prophet, Rasool or Messiah), the only One who can give a Universal Push to all the kingdoms of Creation, to all the forms from gas, stone, metal, up to human being.

Previously, there were places in Andhra where, with Baba's permission, Baba lovers would celebrate His Birthday in such a way that when Baba was physically 60-years old, their program would go on for 60 days!  Some places would start celebrating from His Birthday itself – 60 days from 25th February onwards.  Others would begin 60 days before and finish on His Birthday.  Still, to this very day, in some places in Andhra, His Birthday will be celebrated for so many days!

Once, when we were on tour with Baba in Andhra, Baba's 60th Birthday was celebrated in the house of Dr. Danpatthy Rao.  And then we observed that 60 days of celebration followed!

"Andhra is my head, and Hamirpur is my heart," Baba would say.  Now we see that Baba's Birthday celebration also goes on throughout Hamirpur District, where Baba declared Himself as the Avatar of the Age for the first time.

Beloved Baba also travelled around the whole world, not once, but 14 times.  In some countries, He would not meet anyone as He did during His Eastern or Western tours.  He would stay briefly in a place, like Japan – where He was in a hotel.  The same in China, Mandali members were sent there, and while Baba was returning from the West, He went and stayed there a few days, though He did not meet anyone.

He was doing His Universal Work, and now the world is coming to Him.  We see it at Meherabad - people from all the different countries are coming to Him - Chinese, Japanese, even Germans and Russians, those from countries where Baba did not go … they are all coming!  This Oneness has embraced everyone very, very, closely.  Every corner of the world will know about Him - no country will be left out, and you will see people from all of them coming!

He is birthless and deathless.  He is eternal and eternally active.  What a wonderful, opportunity we have received that we have recognized Him and follow Him.

So go on saying, Jai Ho, Jai Ho, Jai Ho, Avatar Meher Baba, Jai Ho yours!

And please, O Beloved Baba, crush our false selves so that we may come closer and closer to You.

With all love and Jai Baba to you,

In His Love and Service,

Bhau

AVATAR MEHER BABA'S 41ST AMARTITHI WELCOME ADDRESS

By V.S. Kalchuri (Bhau)
Chairman, Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust
31 January, 2010 Meherabad Hill

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

My dearest Brothers and Sisters,

On behalf of the Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust, its Board of Trustees, the Meherazad Mandali and those volunteers who are doing selfless service to the Trust, I welcome you and bow down to you on this day of Amartithi.

Amartithi is the day that expresses Beloved Avatar Meher Baba's Universality.

While the Avatar is in the body, He does His Universal Work in the material world and inner worlds, collecting the sanskaras of each person who comes into His contact, as well as the sanskaras of those who do not meet Him in His physical form.

On Amartithi, we remember the day that Beloved Baba stopped meeting people physically. But His Universal work continues (though still, we cannot truly understand what His Universal Work is).

There are five Perfect Masters, and the work they do under the Divine Plan is divided up amongst them. The Avatar's work is to give a Universal Push to Creation, and this Push cannot be given by the Perfect Masters. That is the reason He comes in man-form, to do the work of giving the Universal Push that the Perfect Masters cannot. And what is this Universal Push?

The Avatar gives a push in consciousness right from the gas state, through the stone, metal, vegetable, worm, fish, bird, and animal forms on through to human beings. A Perfect Master gives a push to the people in his circle or to dogs or cats or parrots he has as pets, not to all. The Avatar is the One who has to come, age after age, in order to give all a Universal Push.

In the world you find religions that follow different Avatars, but He is not a different one. Just as Zoroaster and Meher Baba are One and the same. In every age, the same One comes, but though He is One and the same, His name, face, color, every aspect is changed. He is made to meet the situation of the time, and according to the situation, His work also changes.

But people don't understand this. We are all brothers and sisters, but people create differences between religions and then kill each other. It is just like two brothers fighting and killing each other.

We should not differentiate among religions. And today, Amartithi, is the day that we will remain fully aware that He comes age after age as the same One. We are all blessed that we have come to know this fact. So we should not follow religions but instead follow the Truth of these religions.

Though the Avatar drops His body, He remains alive and does His Universal Work, remaining infinitely active for one hundred years. During this period, whether people call Him or don't call Him, He helps them. But then, after one hundred years, He takes rest, and only when His lovers call Him does He help them.

Beloved Baba dropped His body forty-one years ago, and fifty-nine years are there remain until His Universal Manifestation. He is infinitely active for these fifty-nine years, as He was active when He was physically present. After this, when people call Him wholeheartedly, He will be present. He will not take any time at all to be present. He is always present and always lives in the present. Know well that He knows everything all the time, and He always hears what we need. He is infinitely powerful, and He is infinitely blissful all the time. All days for Him are Today. No tomorrow and no yesterday, only Today. This Amartithi is also Today, without yesterday or tomorrow.

How can "today" become "Today"?

When we forget tomorrow and yesterday.

So Today is the day we know the fact of "So Hum" ["I Am"].

Whatever He is, we are that, we are the same, I Am. Only this thought should be in our minds: we are One. We should not keep any other thoughts there but "So Hum," in order that we can find the Truth.

What a great fortune this age has received that He has disclosed many secrets! We have to believe whatever He has said. I am disclosing this truth before you all, blessed ones, and Beloved Baba will be very, very pleased to hear this.

Let us bow down to Him and pray,

"O Beloved, what You have done for us! Now we will work according to your Truth and follow it through love, honesty and service, in order to make our lower selves weaker and weaker and our higher selves stronger and stronger. We know that You will accept our prayer and feel happy to give Your blessing, so that we may get our place in the one-quarter on the ship that will take us directly to Your abode."

Jai Ho! Jai Ho! Jai Ho! Our dearest Beloved Meher Baba, the Avatar of the Age.

With all love and Jai Baba to you,

In His Love and Service,

Bhau

Subject:  Re Bhau's Message - Quick Instructions on How to Contribute to the Trust
Date:  Sunday, 18 October 2009

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba

There has been a huge outpouring of love and emails and offers to contribute in response to Bhau's appeal about donations to the Trust.

As the New Life celebrations and Divali are going on and the Internet was on the blink for much Bhau's Internet chat today, his Team has not yet had time to prepare fuller instructions on how to donate.   Mother C wishes people to note that the Trust Office was closed on Saturday and will be closed again on Monday.

Also, in the meantime, Mother C suggests that people who wish to donate immediately should go to the Trust website (text below the link).  Please note that there are additional links on the web page that are not visible in the plain text message below.
